Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Hunters is FAKE!!!
« on: April 21, 2011, 10:34:35 PM »
Auction Hunters ran a special thing showing where they lost there ass bad on several units. Whether it was trying to dump a unit and ended up getting stuck or just buying a unit and not turning any profit. And what someone else said, barry loses money a lot but he always says he is in it for the collections of random and unique items.
do i believe that some of it is just acting and fake? yes
but in my opinion, if it were just random like us, then it wouldnt be much for tv would it?

There are three climate controlled storage facilities, this is just the better of the 3 chains. Hopefully they'll be some more auctions first of april.

Didnt get any of the 3 units. First unit full of random stuff thrown everywhere went for $380. Second didnt have much in it, went for $180. 3rd was an accumulation unit that had one fridge and trash for $80. Way overpriced. There were 30 ppl. only 8 of us bid at all. No strollers or large families this time thank god

eBay / Anyone else got a phone call from Ebay recently?
« on: March 24, 2011, 02:02:47 PM »
I have been selling stuff on ebay for over 6 years now, but I received a phone call earlier from ebay telling me they have noticed my account and it would save me money to open a store. I talked to the guy for about 20 min. asking him questions and he told me I could do it at anytime and cancel at anytime. Thought it was interesting, u guys gottin one lately?

I had one stop by after I had won the unit and was cleaning it out a few hours later. I handed her a box of the w-2, photo's, car tag and several receipts, she said she appreciated it greatly and left. Other than that i never have been approached, I have had a few of the storage facility owners come talk to me randomly, no big deal, I think they just were curious as to what I found.

I think it is okay for employees but not the owner, cuz he is basically getting a free unit if you think about it. I have been to a few auction where employees (maintenance, desk people) would occasionally bid and I was okay with it because they had to pay for the unit just like we did.

Not choosing either side, everyone say one thing and at times does another (hypocritical) so everyone, even myself is hypocritical, best thing to do is just do what you do and not worry about others.

Just my 2 cents which we all know now a days ain't worth anything.

The other day at the auction one of the regulars I usually talk to found a bag of pot in a unit. Nothing huge maybe like a 1/4 oz or something like that along with a bong. He and a buddy of his showed up at the next facility a little out of it...lol. Said it was stale but did the job...lol. Aside from that I've never seen anyone find drugs in a unit.

Haha that's hilarious!
But guns, I would have them run by the police.
money (depends what else in the unit with the money and also how much)
drugs (if it was like this story and a small amount I would throw it away, however if it was a lot, I would turn it in to the popo's)

General Storage Auction Talk / Got an auction tomorrow!

I already called today and they said they would have 6 lockers spread out over 3 facilities, which is good cuz not all these random yuppies will go to all 3 facilities, esp. on a Friday, so hopefully it will spread them out at best. This is the humidity controlled nicer lockers in town also so hopefully there is some good stuff to be had. I will let you guys know what I get and try to take some pics if time permits. The only thing I hate about staying around my town is the auctions are so spread out.  ;D

Nah, cuz if you can keep them in your home or car/self (with a permit) then why would they be stored. just my guess.
