I personally have never had to be in direct contact with the original owner *knocking on wood*. Although I always try to get personal effects that have no resale value to the facility management.

I did have a unit that the owner wanted to contact me, the management kept pressuring me to please call them, and I told them there was no way in hell I will contact them myselves. It tends to cause problems I would think.

I sell all my DVDs, books, and CDs on amazon. Some go pretty fast. Just dont list anything under $3.00. It may not be worth it lower than that.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: How are the crowds in your area?
« on: April 26, 2011, 12:40:07 PM »
Crowds around my area are dieing down. Mostly what is out there are the Vets, the occasional curiosty ones, and the noobies (like me) that have gotten lucky and come back for more.

The rest that have no idea on how to run a resell business have pretty much ran off.

The Treasure Chest / Re: Safes and what they contain

My second unit I bought is my best one so far. First was a big learning lesson, even though I made soem profit on it. But second unit, looked like hell, paid $180 for it. I made that back with a handful of scrap silver, everything else was pure profit, which was over $500. Lol, I still got about another $100 or so of inventory left from that unit.

Well, I just went to my first sealed bid auction today. Cant say I liked it to much. However I know if these were a regualr auction the prices would of went higher than what they sold for. I bid on only one unit, it was a 5x10. I bidded $70.01. Couldnt see much value, but there was alot of totes and sealed boxes. Got my curiosity going on it. I was outbidded by $100. Oh well, no big deal.

The other 4 units I did not even bother on, they were not my cup of tea.

Bidding is still a little high over here, but it is starting to settle down.

I am somewhat new to the Storage Auction Biz. I tried it out before a few years ago, but was just a mere treasure hunter. Both in Houston and Denver.

Just got back into it a few months ago, but now as a business, well at least working on it to become a business. Currently doing yard sales and rummage sales, as well as listing online. Which I have been doing that for the past year. Was getting my items from other garage sales, CL Free items, dumpster diving, and estate sales. But figured I could get more inventory for cheaper prices, which has been paying off well.

Hopefully soon will get all my business licenses and permits, and go get a booth at a flea market. And maybe open an online store. But we shall see on the online store.

Anyways, Hi :)
