General Storage Auction Talk / Got my first two units
« on: July 01, 2011, 06:15:44 PM »
Got 2 Thursday, 1 for 75.00 that had a new traveling massage table worth 150.00. The 2nd for 70.00 that  I already sold 2 TV's for 80.00. Took 2 van loads and truckload for everything, have gone thru it all and expect to make another 400.00 and we kept 75.00 worth of items. Exhaustingly long 20 hr day Thursday and another 8 today to go thru and sort everthing but has been exciting, strange ( personal items ), and blown away at what I found. Happy hunting and small crowds ( ours was 15 ).

New to Storage Auctions? / elusive 1st unit
« on: June 26, 2011, 08:56:13 AM »
I was wondering how long it took some of you to score your first unit? Went to another auction yesterday ( 5th total) and have yet to get one. I have bid on a couple low end units that went for more than they were worth, and lost out yesterday on a nice unit that I bid every dollar in my pocket and lost by 5 bucks. I'm still pissed, but the rush of getting that close was very cool. It should be better when I actually win. Thanks for all of you that post, I really enjoy your perspectives.

New to Storage Auctions? / Selling clothes
« on: May 22, 2011, 01:31:16 PM »
I have read many opinions on selling clothes from units and I wonder if this is dependant on area of the country, quality, demographics or all of the above. Just had a big yard sale with a lot of clothes for sale and did very well on them. We set up tables with .50 on everything, better quality items we priced separately. I used advice from here on old t-shirts as shop rags and sold them. Do some of you not want to deal with clothes for space, no profit or something else? Do you launder them first or sell as is? I plan to do quarterly yard sales and have space to store them. This is part time work for me and I'm hoping units full of clothes will make $.Thanks for any thoughts.

Hello everyone, I have been a fan of the forum since finding it a couple months ago. I waited to join until I attendended my first auction, which I did this week. I would like to thank all the members for the valuable info you post here. The auction had 17 units for sale between 3 sites, and about 30 people attended. I was looking for a small unit to add volume for my community yard sale this past weekend. Didn't get one because I took 75.00 bucks to limit myself first time out. However, most of the units went for 60.00 to 225.00 range and I thought they were worth it. Three went for over 500.00, but were loaded with sellable items that were in plain sight. Have been building my database and making calls. I have a good full time job working 2-10 in AM, which gives me time to do the business. Look forward to participating in the discussions. Sleep when your dead!
