Welcome to the Jr. forum.  There is a lot of great information and people to learn from on here.

I too am still new to storage auctions.  I have been doing a lot of reading, but have yet to buy my first locker.  I am working on selling collectibles I bought from a buddy of mine to put together my seed money for my first auction.

I just did a Google Search myself, and this forum was the first hit and the storageauctionboards was the second.

I did notice one thing though.  The fifth hit down was storageauctionforums.net.  If you go to that site, you get a link "To visit one of the top storage auction forums on the net".   I have to disagree with that quote because it takes you to storageauctionboards.com.  Go figure, they are trying to use the .net version of your domain to sneak some members.

Sometimes web developers do not pay attention to when a domain is up for renewal and they loose it.  You might want to check out storageauctions.com every once in a while to see if they lost it, that way you can snatch it up real quick.

Welcome to the Online Storage Auctions Forum / Re: Hi from SW Florida

Yes, that happens and it is (as you suggest) because of the length of the post. When it starts "jumping" just end that post and go immediately to a new post to continue the thought. It's very likely that your two posts will be one after the other as it is unlikely anyone else would be posting at the same time.

Another suggestion is what I do when I am planning to make a lengthy post:

Open Microsoft Word, Note Pad, or some kind of program like that, type what you want, then copy and paste it to your reply.  You will never have to worry about the screen jumping while you are trying to type.  It is also helpful to be able to use spell check in that program.

Hey Jedi, that is way cool.  As long as you were just hoping to at least double your money after expenses, I bet you were extremely pleased.

Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Storage Wars: Dallas
« on: June 22, 2011, 11:38:49 PM »
East Texas is not Safe, I was just at an Auction in East Texas, Longview, The A&E staff with Storage Wars signed several bidders and the auctioneer while I was there, Rumor is they are already filming in Longview Tyler and Dallas. Most of the Bidders for the show are from Longview TX and so is the Auctioneer.

You must have went to one of the Walt Cade Auctions.  I figured they would have signed him up.  That sucks.  Oh well, maybe I can go to one of their auctions when they are filming, act a fool, and become famous!!!

Flea Markets / Re: Flea Market Revenue ?

When's it going to happen ?

Well, I am still keeping extremely busy during my free-time with all of the collectibles I bought from my friend.  I have almost finished the inventory on the Nascar memorabilia, and next I will be getting on the hundreds of hotwheels.  Once I finish these two sections, I will have some sales, one person is wanting to possibly buy all of the hotwheels in one shot.

Once I finish inventory, pictures, and start selling some of this stuff, I will be using some of the money to buy my first locker(s).

Welcome to the forum.

I have been doing a lot of reading and posting on here, though I have yet to buy my first locker.

Just curious, how did the $5 locker turn out?

Welcome to the forum.  I look forward to hearing how you did with your first locker.

General Storage Auction Talk / Good day at local live auction
« on: June 13, 2011, 02:55:18 AM »
One of our local auciton houses has live auctions on Tuesday and Saturday.  Well, last Thursday they had a special auction for antiques and collectibles.  I think I did pretty good at it.

1.  Hank Aaron autographed baseball with stand - $15
2.  Ted Williams autographed baseball card - $15
3.  Ted Williams autographed picture - $15
4.  2 wooden asian lamps - $10
5.  wood calculator and pen set in wood case - $2.5
6.  Tiger Woods commemorative golf ball set in tin - $2.5
7.  Antique Uncle Sam Bank - $2.5
8.  1913-1915 Felt and Tarrant Comptrometer - $10

All three of the autographed baseball memorabilia came with a COA, but they are pretty much worthless when trying to sell.  The sports memorabilia dealer that consigned the items guaranteed them authentic, and said that if they are ever found to be non-authentic, they will give a full refund, no questions asked.

I plan to send all three items to PSA to get a real cert done.  The Hank Aaron will cost $30, and the two Ted Williams will cost $75 each.  I am unsure why the Williams cost so much, I will have to ask PSA about it.  Even with the high cost, it will be worth it.  The Williams card will be worth around $300, Williams picture will be worth about $150, and and the Hank Aaron baseball will be worth between $200 and $300.

Craigslist / Re: I am about to get a lot of online selling practice

rulesforrebels -   I have finally sorted through the boxes and have separated all of the Nascar stuff.  I think I have all of the Nascar separated.  I may find more 1:64 scale die-cast cars later when I finish going through what I thought was a little over 300 Hotwheels, but now I think it may be over 600!

Anyways, now that I have the Nascar by itself, all I have to do is go through the 10 boxes and totes, inventory them, and start taking pictures.

This feels like Christmas, I keep finding all sorts of cool stuff.  I have never received this many toys at one time.  If I were a little kid I think my head would explode!

Stores / Re: Booth space versus full store - I bit the bullet
« on: June 11, 2011, 06:56:04 PM »
Congrats Ironman.  It is nice to hear people finding new places to sell at.  I wish we had something like that where I am at.  The closest thing to that is in our Factory Outlet mall.  I can rent a space, about the same size, for $100 per month.  The only catch there is to make sales you have to be present.  It is something I will do later on when I eventually stop truck driving, but Lord knows when that will be.

The Lounge / Re: Sports Cards - Prefer local in East Texas

I have about 5k basketball cards mostly from the 90s and early 2000s everything from commons, rookies and inserts, there may be a auto and a game used card, I also have about 200 mj cards mostly inserts. Is this something you might be ineterested in? I am in Houston.

Not interested so much in commons, especially between like 1980 and 2000, depending on the player and the production run.

I might be interested in the mj cards.  I could bundle them when my mj cards for a sale, I probably have between 100 and 200 of his I think.

The autos, g/u, rcs, and inserts are what will peak some intereste for me.  If you have some pics and a little info what whats there, lmk.  You can either pm or email them to me at [email protected]

Once I know what is there, and after I hit an acution tonight, I will be better able to make an offer.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to the forum.   I have been all over the forum, reading and posting, but I have not bought my first lkr yet.  I have been buying collections from individuals and am heading to a specialty auction tonight.

I like hearing others experiences with storage unit auctions, so do make sure you start a thread for your first lkr purchase.

Anyways, welcome again, and I hope to see you making a lot of posts, I need more to read on here, lol.  I have been on here for a week now, and am on here probably 2 to 3 times a day, hoping more people will start posting.  Well, see ya around the forum.

What's it Worth?? / Re: Antique and Collectibles - online price guide
« on: June 08, 2011, 08:19:13 PM »
I found a decent article on researching value and getting antiques appraised.

antiques.lovetoknow.com/Free_Antique_Appraisals_Online]http://antiques.lovetoknow.com/Free_Antique_Appraisals_Online

I also found a community driven online appraisal site.  I am posting a link, but I have not tried it out yet.

instappraisal.com/]http://www.instappraisal.com/

I just signed up at instappraisal.  I also posted an item for review.  One cool thing I like about it is that you have an option to list it in their free classifieds.  I guess we can consider that site a place to get prices and another place to sell, maybe.

Well, sad to report, but of the few things I have tried to look up on their price guides, I have had no luck.

Also, with the boot I posted in their forum, I have had 4 people view the thread overnight and no replies.  I hope with over 46,000 registered users, they will have at least one person that can lead me in the right direction.

I am off of work from my regular job for the next couple of days.  If I do any research and find more sites to try and get prices, I will pass them along.
