Put that title in the box with their pictures, tax receipts etc and take that back to the storage company.  Sometimes you have to do the right thing and not let greed cloud your judgement.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: How do you handle the guy that

He is getting the unit he wants because he bids on them.  He has a number in his head and he's obviously not getting bid up.

Bid him up!

Craigslist / Re: Are CL buyers really nuts or what?

I've done the same, but I dont keep it out where they can see it but instead, I conceal it on my person.

I just sold all the leftovers to a neighbor down the street.  I sold what I could on yard sale time and when it was all said and done, a neighbor came over and I told them:

"yep, im going to box all this up and sell it as a lot for $100, but im really looking to just get rid of it"

Them:  "will you take $50?"

Me:  "Sure"

Them: "YAY!!!!"

Me: "YAY!!!!"

Then, I run into a guy at the auctions, he has a resale shop.  Told him about this bulk lot and my neighbors and he tells me to sell it to him next time, he would pay me the hundred.

Craigslist / Are CL buyers really nuts or what?
« on: November 07, 2011, 10:25:49 PM »
I cant count the number of times someone saw a CL ad, and shows up and they get all squirley on me.  One guy had the balls to tell me that I listed an item cheaper than what I was asking.  After correcting him, he had the nerve to try and demand I give it to him cheaper.  I told him 'no, no, no.. we're not playing this game.  The price is what it is' and he got all "YOU SAID..."

I know what I said and that ain't it. F'in nerve of some people.

Rant off.

Flea Markets / Re: Miscellaneous Flea Market Stories

I sold a quarter item, the lady produces a quarter and walked off.  I am a huge silver bug, I check all coins to see if they are silver.  Yep!  1959 quarter!  Thanks for the 9 dollar quarter lady!

I hope they pay with quarters and dimes, it increases my chance of finding another silver one.  Im one of those that absolutely without a doubt will check every single coin that falls into my hand.   When I go to the grocery store, I always check the coin return on the coinstar machine.  They reject silver dimes.

I've got a nice big bag full of silver quarters and dimes.  I won't sell em though, they go into my "hedging against the dollar" fund.

From the research I have done noe of the compensation information has ever been released.  I pissed off my wife last year when I told her the stars from 16 and pregnant were making 60k per season.  Irrelevant I know but still funny.  Then I told her that by watching it SHE was helping to pay them.....

Nothing like watching a 16 year old know it all drum up some drama for the TV camera's...

The Treasure Chest / Gotta love a good business locker..
« on: November 06, 2011, 09:19:09 PM »
I picked up a 10x20 for cheap.  I counted 9 filing cabinets in this unit, not a single lick of furniture, no matresses etc.

What I did get:

2 patterson kelly twin shell dry blenders ($$$$$)
ultrasonic equipment ($$$$$)
soda lime beads - they look like marbles, these sell for 40 bucks a pound on ebay (circa 25-30 pounds)
Scientific stuff, beakers, gauges, bronze fittings etc.

Best 360 bucks I ever spent and once I get these blenders sold, its going to be a hard unit to top. A quick search on the blenders turns up a $5,000 price tag.. and I got two!

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Anyone have to deal with this?
« on: November 06, 2011, 09:05:02 PM »
The way I see it, once I put my lock on that locker, everything behind that door is mine.  If the storage company wanted to sell it back to the previous owner, they shouldn't be auctioning it in the first place.

You cant have your cake and eat it too.  We are paying some decent money to these auctioneers and storage companies, why would they want to kick a gift horse in the mouth?  Whats the alternative?  Not auction the unit and keep losing revenue because you have a tenant that won't pay?

If I was approached, I would be level headed and let them know I want to go through my stuff first and if I didn't feel the unit would be a good flip then I would inquire about selling it back to the previous owner.

Tax returns, pictures, Juniors kindergarten tote full of his crafts.. all this stuff is mine.  I give it back because I can't sell it and I do try to be a decent human being.  The very second a previous locker owner starts making legal threats; there stuff is going straight to the dump, I'm not going to play around.

If an auctioneer tried pulling that crap on me, I won't attend any more of their auctions. Enough people do this, that auctioneer will start losing money.

If the storage company was forcing them do this crap, same thing.  I won't do business with em. Then again, Dallas Fort Worth has plenty of auctions any given day of the week.

Those guys on Storage wars get paid to do the show lol. Probably 100k per episode each. I would definately be down for that ;)

I would like to make a little income also. I know it sure is fun, till all the moving starts:( I hope you quadruple your money. Happy Hunting!!!

Its nowhere near that much.. They get paid maybe 500 to 1k per episode.
