im only taking a grand when i go to the next auction. sadly, tomorrows excursion has been cancelled. next one is Monday, assuming its not cancelled either.

no desire to vacation right now. my business just landed an IT contract for a trucking company that's contracted to Halliburton. im making some mad cheese right now and the guy who's network im administrating..., hes about to open 2 more offices... and guess who gets to purchase, install and set up the new gear? :D

im guessing its going to be an EASY 20k+ profit for me after its all said and done, and that's not counting the money my employees are going to make :D

I think you had better find a another way to find auctions other than auctionzip.   Any auction adertised with them is gonna be very crowded.

for my city, its the paper and auction zip. the paper's information was helpful but it didnt have the full line up like auctionzip does.

auctions in my city are always crowded. 's something you just have to get used too til the hype from tv shows goes away...

As my grandpa use to say: ya can't get a pickle if you fill the jar with radishes.

No f**king clue what that means, never have. But to him it answered just about all lifes questions.

best I can do for you......

LOL. it seems to be coming back online rather slowly. i was able to pull up the main page but searching my zip leads to a white screen and lots of waiting.

i have no problem with this at all. many times, the caravan im following is mostly lookeyloos and 5-10 real bidders. cracking down on the spectators will decrease the time spent while EVERYONE gets a look, plus the possible 'omg i have to have that jack up the price' types that are there only to run up bids.

180 grams should translate to a few ounces, meaning you should WAY more than quadrouple your investment.

180/28= 6.4 ounces. unless gold ounces are measured differently, you should make 4 grand easy, just on the 180 grams of gold.

-edit-

even if its measured in troy ounces at the place you sell it at, you should easily clear 4 grand, just on the gold alone.

great score!

believe me, it wasnt just me. when she threw out her opening bid, a bunch of people sighed or made some  kind of noise. the same lady who won that unit was with a guy and the 2 of them were heard saying stuff like 'dont let any locker go cheap unless were the top bidder. run that bid up'.

they werent very popular.

yeah, today was a bust. biggest let down was a lady paying 350$ for a unit that had a stainless steel fridge in it... because she wanted the wicker couch behind it. i had to cough out loud and yell 'someones high'.

guy i met there got one of the 2 good units. his was a double and he scored it for 1500. the other was a tools unit that went for slightly over a grand.

good times, weather was a bit cold and yeah, the crowd was big. most units went from 100-400.

aaaaaaaaand im off! will update this thread when i make a purchase. hope things start good this new year!

You must be fairly young  ;)

just past my 3rd decade in this thing we call a world ;)

boy am i excited!

im even working out corporate sponsorship! a little history on that:

ive been in the IT and console modification / repair business for well over a decade. ive worked as the lead admin for dell.com from 1998-2002. ive worked for apple as a tier2 supervisor/admin from 2002-2004. at that point, i decided i wanted my own hours and went into business for myself.

fast forward to this past november. i got a voicemail on my phone one morning that sounded like it came from nick nolte after a nights carousing at the bars. basically it was 'hello robert, this is douglas, i have a job for you..'.

so, curiosity eventually gets the better of me and i call the number, speak with the receptionist. eventually, douglas gets on the phone and basically says he wants me to take over the IT aspects of his company. we talk for a few hours, agree on an hourly rate and i become contracted to him as the head of his IT department.

well, hes so impressed with the work ive been doing that yesterday, i was relating to him about how this thursday will be my first auction where im going to actually purchase something (he watches auction hunters and storage wars). he says to me 'you know, if you find something really interesting that you think i might like, or something oil-related, let me know. i might just have to invest some money into this idea of yours'.

we've been talking about it more this morning as well. he's even offered me one of his employees and a truck if i get a unit thats too large to move with my rav4.

the last 4 months have been really, really good to me. im wondering if its karma finally repaying me for all the good i've done and not asked for anything in return (im a sucker for pulling over on the highway when i see people broken down and offering rides or advice to fix their cars. plus i like tinkering with cars).

i can only hope and pray that this streak of incredibly good luck continues into my new endeavor with buying and reselling what i win in lockers.

wait, youre paying 15 bucks a month for 250 GIGS or 250 MEGS?

i ask because i have an ATT DSL line and i pay 20 a month for 150 gigs... and i am seriously doubting that youre getting 250 gigs for that price. but if you are... thats.. awesome...

To: The Jerk

Sounds like you are well under way. Getting the locker may be your first stumble as things don't always go according to plan.

Other than that my only word of advice to someone who calls himself "The Jerk" is...."Stay away from the oil cans!"

oil cans and older stuff are not my thing. electronics, furniture.. these are items i like to deal in that i can move rather fast in the area i live in.
