First off, I've found that the 'Digital Millennium Copyright Act' allows for systems to be jailbroken. Perfectly legal. Though it voids the warranty.

As far as unlocking, it's legal as long as phone isn't still property of carrier. Basically, the phone can't be under contract.
AT&T announced that they now authorize the unlocking of their phones after contract has expired.

Working on the owner of this little scary convience store that sells used phones to let me learn on some of his.  And picked up a pay-as-you-go phone to practice on. Don't really like putting money out but figured worse case, everyone needs a burner from time to time.

I got rid of over 100 Forman Grills and cheap DVD players in a weekend at almost retail that way.
Was an accident. Getting gas and someone saw them in my trunk, asked about, made a sell and got a lghtbulb in my head.  lol

Not that you'll ever need it but I got a hydraulic kit from Harbor Frieght years ago. Mainly for the press for  various autobody projects but it had a cutter. Like a mini jaws of life. Pretty cool. Had to play and cuts thru the most protective locks!

Profit of a few thousand dollars is definitely a hobby, you need to be clearing 30 or 40k at least to make a living at this.

You CAN but for the "risk vs reward" there are better business options.
If you do I'd scope out industrial lockers rather than your average personal lockers.
They go for a lot more, harder to find and contents are usually I s very niche' market so selling options are limited.

 I have a job, pays well and I love what I do. But one, I want to give my family more than what my salary can provide. Two, I'm not a come home and watch tv type. I gotta keep moving.

If something is only bringing in $200/month but you have 10 things going.....it adds up.

Go sit at a flea and make $200? That's $800 at the end of the month. To do what?
Socialize. Spend time with kids. Actually TALK to kids. Teaching kids about an honest dollar, money, business. There's a lot more to it than the money.  At least that's what I see. 90% of sellers are cool and it's because this is their view. 10% are in it just for the money and they are always angry, condescending, know-it-all, *ssholes......

I am that guy. Not the kitchen wares type stuff.
I just have buyers and contacts. People bring me what they have and I either buy low, with full disclosure that they could get more elsewhere, or I take on consignment of sorts.

More towards ur question, the "low end crap" you speak of is some peoples bread and butter. Quick ad on CL and, for the right price, plenty of people are willing to take it off your hands.

Don't understand the "humble" remark?  I just don't enjoy selling at flea's.  Don't look down on people that do.

A lot of auto auctions have gone web based. Good side is we can get cars from Hawaii to Miami without expense of sending guy out there. And they've all got shippers on stand by so don't have to line that up.
 But have been screwed. Mechanical is always a gamble but have pictures and descriptions of "clean" "perfect interior"....and they come and smell like death or dented from hail or.......

I like to be there. Look at it.

Side story: my buddy got a 2009 tahoe ltz for $17000. Auction description said "major paint defects and multiple dents per panel"
Thought for the price it would be worth it.
So gets it and "paint defect" was it was a rental and auto car wash had finely scratched entire thing. Dents? Little door dings that took and hour to rub out.
Got the car. Hour on dents. Two hours to cut/polish and sold two days later for $32000.
After expences made $11,000 and some change.

So it goes both ways on bidding online......

You may do well on eBay since your listing would be against all the eBay stores overpriced listings.

If people don't research and see $75 new and then your used.....


What I meant to say before with pricing cookware is, for example, I have an Emeril pan that on HIS site sells right now for $125. eBay and various sites, $60-90.
I got it at Ross for $15!


The stuff is so overpriced to begin with and prices all over the board......hard to say what used would go for.
