I can't imagine why he would have done that unless there was a whole lot of something he wanted. Otherwise he would have just taken the desirable items and auctioned off the rest so he didn't have to clean out the locker. Did he win or just run it up a bit?

It does seem really odd that they would have him back after all the lawsuit stuff going on but whatever...it's just TV. Rene absolutely disgusts me though so hopefully Dave will be instead of Rene and not in addition to Rene.

Used to just starve. Not a good strategy. Lately I pack a lunch that can be eaten while driving.

We go together most of the time because we are a team! We each have our own ideas about what is worth buying and what is not. We each tend to spot different things in the units, good or bad. Two heads are better than one. Also, we find it all very entertaining and enjoy the social aspect and have made lots of auction buddies so there's that.

Had a dresser / chest of drawers for sale on Craigslist for a couple weeks. Nothing special, pressboard actually but in nice shape and nice looking $65.00. Got a call from a buyer about an hour away who wanted to come see it. The buyer had to borrow a truck from a friend. Calls back, ok has a borrowed truck and will come. Arranged to come at 5:30. I get a call around 5:00 that they had a flat tire on the truck half way here. Will have to try again another day. They called back at about 6:15 asking if they can still come. Sure! Finally around 7:00 they arrive...in a huge tow truck with the smaller truck with the flat time loaded on it! Tire was shreaded by the way. Saw the dresser. Wife is hesitant, says "I didn't realize it was pressboard". Husband says "After all this we are not leaving without a dresser...we'll take it". Didn't even talk me down. Tow truck driver lowered the smaller truck, we loaded up the dresser, driver raised it back up and away they went!

I've used it a bunch of times. Pros are that it's super easy because you just ship to the EBAY clearing house address in Kentucky (I think it's Kentucky). From that point on it's EBAY's concern to make sure it arrives at it's destination. I use USPS mostly and items over $250.00 must have signature confirmation which is not available in many countries. The downside is it is very expensive for the buyer. They pay your shipping to Kentucky, Ebays shipping to their location and customs. Obviously they pay customs eventually anyway but the shipping comes out more that if you shipped direct to them. Another problem I ran across was a buyer bought two of my items and there was no way to combine shipping. I ended up having to cancel the sales and relist the items together without Global Shipping so the buyer could purchase again and I sent it myself (it was only Canada). Came out much cheaper for the buyer. I think while using Global shipping is easier for the seller, the increased costs for the buyer result in lost sales.

I always check EBAY when I see something I've never seen or sold before valued on storage auction reality shows. It's always way higher than it would sell for on EBAY.  The so called expert often says "a retail value". I think things we sell on EBAY for $100 could often have a retail value of much higher if marketed in a high end antique store. Well, I don't have a high end antique store. I'm going to sell it on EBAY for $100....or whatever. Now maybe the person I sell it to has an antique store and they ARE going to get big bucks eventually. Who knows. I notice they also say "a retail value IF you find the RIGHT buyer....." Yeah, the right buyer makes all the difference and that buyer is probably not shopping EBAY.

I have a stupid criminal story to add. You know how when you buy a storage unit you end up learning stuff about the previous owners? Well one we bought recently turned up some prison letters so I goggled the owners name. Apparently the wife spent a few years in prison for armed robbery (or accessory to armed robbery, I guess). The letters were from her boyfriend (in prison) to her (in prison).  Apparently she and her boyfriend (Prior to the current husband she owned the storage unit with) robbed a gas station convenience store at gunpoint. She was driving the getaway car, he went inside. He made off with about $100.  A couple hours later they hit a second one. The boyfriend set his gun down on the counter to pick up the cash and the cashier picked the gun up and pointed it back at him! How stupid is that? He ran out and they drove off. I guess the cashier got a license plate number. A few hours later they were arrested at their residence. We name all our storage unit buys. We affectionately call that one the "Dumb Robber" unit.
