What's it Worth?? / Re: Do you pay for it?
« on: June 05, 2014, 09:35:13 AM »
I've found a a very large signed oil painting in a locker several months ago. Couldn't find anything on the artist. After hours of research, I noticed that Artfact had recently sold a painting by the same artist. Although it was 1/8 the size of mine, I used that value to help price my painting.

Were you able to sell it? And anywhere near what expected value was?

Who uses ring tones anymore? The best way to show your age and out of the loop is use a ring tone.

Ok maybe I am showing MY age now but doesn't everybody have a ring tone? Mine, by the way, is Bad to the Bone!

Then perhaps you should stop challenging him and start helping him.

Hahaha....just read your reply to my husband. He agrees. Whatever....I do help him by keeping my mouth shut when he buys dumb stuff! He and I definitely focus on different things when it comes to buying. It's what makes us a good team. We both have our surprising successes and occasional flops. I'm more of a researcher and find definite value in obscure items and he is more of an intuition kind of buyer.  Two heads are definitely better than one.

Now you're confusing me. In your first post you wrote, "Lately when creating a new listing on EBAY" and now you're saying it's when relisting.

It's both for sure. Happened again yesterday. New listing but came up as a buy it now because the last listing was a buy it now. I switched it to auction style and it wouldn't let me enter a price. I think it is related to switching between BIN's and Auction style listings. Sorry to be confusing. Guess I should take notes as I go, lol.

Me? Yes, Husband? No! He's always buying awkward crap and I tell him there is no way he will find a buyer for that. He continually proves me wrong.....eventually.

You gave up $2000 for a used elliptical cross trainer?

I don't see this as giving up $2000 at all. You can always flip it later when you get bored with it. I keep lots of stuff with value and then sell it later. Or sell something I had that it replaces.

I have to say I would keep my mouth shut about a big find. As it is I don't tell other buyers how good a unit turned out to be and I'm pretty sure they keep their mouths shut as well.

Hmmmmm...in a storage unit we found 3 or 4 small gold coins. Like dime size so not worth too much but cool anyway. Oh and in the same unit found a silver bracelet that I listed starting at $75.00 and it closed at over $500. Didn't really look like much but it was a mid century designer piece. At an estate auction we bought a sewing machine for $30.00 and sold it for $495.00 in a matter of hours. Fun times...

My husband and I use two different computers to list on two different accounts and we both noticed the problem around the same time so I'm pretty sure it's an EBAY issue. I hadn't thought about it but I think it is mostly if not always on a relisting that I am making changes to.

I think when we started we had about $1200 in cash that we had squirreled away.

eBay / Annoying Ebay Glitch

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Lately when creating a new listing on EBAY it sometimes initially won't let me put the price in. When I start to type the price it looks like it's working then it disappears. Or say I'm trying to type 29.99 and it drops a digit and puts 9.99 or maybe even .99. The only way I can get it to work is to move on to another area and make a change, like shipping, then go back to price and then it works fine. So annoying! This has been going on for a couple weeks.

... We recently had to ban one of our best topic starters (which wasn't an easy decision) due to his constant negativity, but I think the forum will be better off in the long run without him....

I've been wondering about this....surprised it went on as long as it did. Bravo to you Travis for cleaning house.

eBay / Re: How do you create a fake account on eBay?
« on: May 08, 2014, 11:29:37 AM »
I'm not so sure you need it attached to a paypal because I get buyers occasionally that want to pay by money order because they don't have a paypal account. Or maybe they have one but won't use it??? I'm pretty sure you would have to attach it to a paypal account if you are selling though. You do need to have an email attached but obviously anyone can create lots of email accounts.

Mostly at home due to time constraints but recently bought a unit with lots of useless stuff so we brought garbage bags and sorted a large percentage of it there. Then we loaded the bags in the trailer first so they could stay there until the dump run. It was nice to not have to move the stuff twice.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: When do you load?

If possible immediately or at least at the end of the day's run. Also depends on the size of the unit. Most often take a truck load immediately then return with a trailer to finish the job.
