There's a difference between Storage Auction Sites and Storage Auction Forums. A forum is a community, such as this. You cannot count the traffic to a website the same as the traffic to a forum. On the link list given this is what I found:

1. Storage Auction Central - 276 members
2. Uses same forum as one above
3. Storage Battles - could not find a "forum"
4. American Auctioneers - could not find a "forum"
5. Storage Treasures - Unsure of member count, but rather large forum
6. Auction Zip - 386,026 members
7. Storage Auction Experts - could not find a "forum"
8. Storage Auction Guide - could not find a "forum"
9. Extra Storage Space - could not find a "forum"
10. Storage Unit Auction List - can't load the page
11. This forum with 3019 members
12. Same as above
13. Same as above
14. One Self Storage - could not find a "forum"
15. Best Storage Auctions - 10 members
16. Same as #11
17. No "forum"

So to rate this as the top "storage auction forums" is therefore incorrect. According to the stats Travis posted on the traffic to storage auction websites, that makes this list still incorrect.

Remember, a blog/auction site does not necessarily have a "forum" and forum for storage auctions are not that many in which there are many members or traffic generated. Just did the research.

Your best market place is of course Amazon and they have what's called "CreateSpace" - createspace.com/

Great way to get yourself out there.

A good way to market an ebook is to keep the price within .99-$2.99, you achieve 75% of the profits I think. How you market the book from the webinars I've attended on Traffic Travis is to set up a day where you offer your book for FREE,

however,

you need to get 100 people you know to download and review that book within that 1-2 days your book is for free. What this does is catapult the book up to the top of its search on that topic because of the "surge" of feedback you received. Cost $100 to get an isbn number if you do it yourself, btw, for those interested, but you don't need an isbn to sell e-books.

With Kindle being the hottest e-reader on the market, sales for e-books are shooting through the roof. So I would seriously consider self-publishing on the e-book than allowing a publishing house to take of your profits.

As far as titles are concerned, I do not believe they are copyright protected. However, I would go with:

Beginner's Guide to Storage Auctions

Your current title: Storage Auctions 101: Beginner's Guide to Storage Auctions is slightly redundant. With titles keep it simple and to the point.

My 3 cents on that (everyone says 2 cents, so I bid you a penny up).

What I want to know is why no one has thought to "sue" Spike TV. The beginning of the show it states that this are their "true" stories of their finds. I don't remember seeing any disclaimer at the end of the show that everything is just for pure entertainment. It's a type of fraud, really.

When Listerine advertised they could kill 100% of the bacteria in your mouth they were sued. Now if you look at the Listerine commercials, they've corrected that number.

Without a disclaimer, Spike TV could be sued. So not sure why no one has?

If the children's chairs are in good condition and you want to make a donation, consider a shelter for battered women. We use to do food drives for them in Texas.

MTP - you should take a look at virtualstorageauction.com - they're growing every day. Wave of the future may be to buy units online.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Would you try to sell this?

If you would look at this objectively you would understand why eBay would take this off their site. What the KKK did in this country, well, heinous is a word that comes to mind. I would not have put it up, but since you got the connections you needed to sell the item, it was worth the risk, however, I would caution you in the future. You've been flagged once. I don't know how tolerant eBay is if they have to flag you again.

I know someone who worked in the legal department at eBay and they were like true bounty hunters. Just don't stir the pot if you don't have to. All I am saying.

When Dave had his thrift store they filmed that he was holding auctions there. Not many people, but that was months ago before he was fired. He had put that into play on film a time back.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: Selling Store Cards on eBay
« on: April 18, 2013, 08:31:40 AM »
I tried to sell one of my Amazon gift cards, think it was $100 physical card and the only ones who responded on Craigs were those who wanted to "steal" the card for at the bare minimum of 70%. Amazon doesn't have everything I would like to buy so I thought I could at least shave $10-$15 off. People wanted me to shave $30 off.

I'd rather just buy what I can find. I have a stack of these Amazon cards I worked my butt off for a company during their contests. Got a lot of 1st place but I earned the spot, wasn't an easy win. So I am not so easy to part with the cards for so little.

I have no idea how people make money buying cards unless they are able to buy from desperate people or stolen cards or somehow people who attained cards for free at work or at a discount to them.

You can watch the last two current shows on the A&E website. The show is actually better without Dave. The only thing that's hard to watch is that Mark Balelo is in the first show.

I missed the first episode but just watched the second and third. O-M-G just when I though auction show could not get any crazzzier! What is with all the shouting and trash talking? It feels like they're all playing street basketball. Not sure about Deana. Don't know if she bought anything in the first show, but zero in the 2nd and 3rd. Hope she's not just a token female cast member.

I give this show a C for crazy.

eBay / Re: Ebay Shipping is killing me

Movie Man - you're right on the shipping.

I know exactly where you are, having lived in Santa Cruz for almost seven years. October we called our "summer." We left the hotel business in Santa Cruz and hopped over to Santa Monica for three years. Then hopped to the desert, seriously not by choice, but because it was cheap. Let's just say life's circumstance derailed my Hollywood plans for the time being.

I sure do miss the ocean though. You are one lucky dude, Movie Man. Send me a pm and tell me why you're called "Movie Man" if you don't mind.

eBay / Re: Ebay Shipping is killing me
« on: April 02, 2013, 08:41:58 AM »
I've been a member on eBay since 2004 and in both Santa Monica and Santa Cruz the post office was just a hop, jump, skip away. "Extra" trip was just a few blocks for me. Not trying to be cocky, trying to state a fact as to "why" my ranking is at 100%.

I did have a guy in England who attempted to give me a bad rating through Paypal, etc., but I worked it out with him. Guy wouldn't give me his exact address so I knew it was shady from the start, but he had won the item.

I knew a guy who had a 100% rating on 5000 items sold. That's just crazy good seller. I have sold less than 100 items and bought over 100 items off eBay. The items I've sold quite a variety. From original fencing T-shirts, camera gear, film equipment, to books, and at that time I did ship world wide. My Nikon camera body went to one part of the world and the lens at another.

Because I'm a writer I know how to market the item. My eBay description very detailed on every dent, scratch or imperfection down to the letter. No surprises. On most items I offer 100% back return, but not all. It's a combination of my shipping offer, truthful descriptions and quick turn around communication that I've not had problems on eBay. Those are just facts.

I no longer sell on eBay because I don't have large inventory. I'm back to Craigs or smaller forums to get a little bit more for my money now.

The Lounge / Re: What is the deal with web designers?
« on: April 01, 2013, 11:39:22 AM »
Unless a web designer is overbooked, they should have that done within a quick period of time. As far as programmers, some slow as molasses but if your "project" isn't big enough for them and they have multiple projects, a gentle push is always in order.

I know someone who's been waiting for a programmer now for about two months to finish a site that doesn't look that complicated. However, if you are a one-man-show it could be a lot of work.

So I dunno. I got screwed on sound design on a short film because the sound engineer had another project with the same deadline as mine and didn't tell me. Yeah, guess what, the post production sound was off.

I think best thing is to find out "how" many projects they are working on to give you an idea of how quick or slow they are to get things in order.

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Wondering if anyone sells on Amazon?

I have on their half-priced store for Textbooks. Harder to move textbooks on eBay than on Amazon.

eBay / Re: Ebay Shipping is killing me
« on: April 01, 2013, 11:18:26 AM »
I have a 100% score on eBay and there's two things I do on shipping so I don't lose money.

1. Use eBay's flat-rate shipping boxes. I crammed 70 cds in the large flat-rate box, duct tape that puppy together and paid only the large flat-rate shipping for a very heavy, heavy box.

2. If I cannot use flat-rate shipping I put a shipping fee on the item and then on my description I write:

I will calculate the shipping by going to the post office and give you the "exact" amount it will cost me to ship the item. It will take me a day to get the item boxed and over the post office. I do not in any way want to make money off of you the buyer on shipping. Please have patience.

Yes, it is an "extra" trip for me on having to go the post office, get it weighed, then contact the buyer with the exact amount. But why do you think I have that 100% score? I don't inflate the shipping cost. When people discover I'm going to go through this extra trouble, they BID on my items. I have sold almost everything I've put up on eBay, but I also ship world-wide and yes, that's an extra trip to the post office to check on the price of that international shipping cost.

I don't care. I want to sell. So if an extra trip to the post office will get me a profit, I'm there.
