General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Arcade / Gambling Machines
« on: December 31, 2013, 11:22:09 AM »
Yes, a little.
I have a "Country Store" Valero Station.
I buy games for my enjoyment or profit.
Pinball, baseball, etc for my fun - I put a price on them right away.
When I tire of them - I put a more reasonable price on them.

Also have sold some "Cherry Master" machines.

I bought a 6" stack of old Post Cards at an auction for $3 a while back.
Didn't know exactly which would sell - but did a little research.
Took photos and posted around 50 of them.
I had two go for over $20 each and probably a total  of $200 on the bunch.  I repost the remainder whenever I have a free listing special.
Yea - some sold for only $2.00 but you never know which one will take off.

Other Forms of Selling / Re: Using Facebook to sell. Works great!
« on: October 31, 2013, 07:23:03 AM »
I belong to around 12 different FB Yard Sale Type Groups.
Most have rules about how many posts per day and how often you can bump your items.

I have set up 2 FB Page for my items.  One is Warehouse Treasures, One is Halloween Discount.  Soon to Open "Poppies' Attic" as well as a Christmas one.

Anyway - I post a few of the items w/ an advertisement to the page.  All of this advertises my Convenience store where SOME of the items are sitting.

I have had some success.  Good items don't seem to sell well.  BUT... I just found a nice Furniture site that sells higher dollar and looks like items are moving.  Going to put some of our Chalk Paint Furniture on there and see.

« on: October 30, 2013, 02:38:39 PM »
I buy quite a bit at 2 local Auction houses.

1, I buy around $200-500 per Saturday night.
2. I have been gettting $900-$2000 per Monday night.

Mixture of Furniture, knives, Furniture, Toys, Small Appliances, Furniture.

Bought 50 HP Printer Cartridges for $150.  6 days later all gone for total of $1250.

Knives go into my convenience store.
Furniture - all wood, we Chalk Paint and resell at silly prices.
Coffee tables - $3-$13  Sell - $75-125
Side Tables $3-10      Sell $30-50
Beds $7-30      Sell $50-250
Dressers $10-30     Sell $75-285
Tables & Chairs $5-45    $100-300

Best part - my 11 year old Son loves to go, so it is something we do together and maybe he learns something.

 :'(.
So I guess I suckered myself this time.
This is happening to collectables every day.
Like Howdy Doody. The folks still around that remember him are past their collecting days and soon very few will remember him at all - worse yet, with the speed of change of technology - a lot of "youth" really don't even understand.

Hi all.
Bought a 66 piece set of China. Haviland.
Actually 5 different patterns.  They look nearly alike.
Looking for suggestion on how to sell on ebay.

Whole set?
Groups of pieces - 6 lunch plates......?
Piece like piece?

Thoughts.

eBay / Re: NEED Suggestion ASAP (NOW)

I explained that are policy was to ship only inside USA. But would quote him the best price I could find to Finland. Suggested that I thought that was pretty high and that if he wanted to, we could both withdraw.

He thought that'd was the best idea.  That was the end.

I just reviewed my Shipping policy.
Says United States Only.

So, I will figure the International Shipping and send invoice at that level and see what he does.

I probably missed the exclusion not to let him bid in the first place!

eBay / NEED Suggestion ASAP (NOW)
« on: September 24, 2013, 12:22:46 PM »
HI all,

I have screwed UP!!

Had two items on eBay that sold.
I had been VERY careful about my Shipping Policies - but MESSED UP on this one!!
I always say USA ONLY!

Well, guess what - someone from Finland purchased both items - Straight Razor & Shaving Strop
USPS costs - $60
TOTAL SALE INCLUDING SHIPPING: $33
I am inclined to deny the sale, explain and hope for the best.
If I take a Neg Rating - I guess I take a Neg =-- First EVER!
BUT.....
Thoughts
Have to decide right away!

eBay / Anyone You Know?
« on: September 24, 2013, 11:57:57 AM »
Today, I sold an Item on eBay.
I clicked on "Print Shipping Label"

Turns out it is was someone I know, right here in the County. (NOT a pick-up only item)

Two other times - I was selling "no longer working" restaurant equipment.  Guy I know from the next county over bought both - a year apart from each other.

Anyone have same experience?

eBay / Re: EBAY - FREE 500 LISTINGS
« on: September 23, 2013, 12:36:42 PM »
Well, I have not reached 1 million yet. But I still have three days to list.
I am up near 200 though.

Many of which I would not have otherwise listed. But I will take $5 a pop many times peppered in with $30-$100 sales.

I have most all of the listings scheduled to be over right before the deadline. That way those that have not sold can be relisted again for free.

Picker's Paradise / Re: Advance purchase of an entire yard sale

YuupFL -

That is what I saw yesterday.  The longer we hung around 'talking' the more I could tell that SHE was doing her best to sell it to me and be DONE with it!!
She had totally decided she did NOT want to sit out all weekend and sell for a $1 here and there. AND then, move have of it back inside!

To some, I think this would be a great relief.  To others - it would ruin their FUN!

Some folks actually WANT to have the yard sale.
These folks were extatic and relieved not to have to go thru it all.
