Online Storage Auctions / Re: Online auctions

It might just be me but that doesn't make any sense to bid strangers up online.  There is no real upside and plenty of downsize.

I have gotten two flags in the triangle cases given to the families of fallen service members.  I sent them both back to the facilities but after a month they asked me to take them back.  I ended up given both to the local VFW.  Those were hard.

Stores / Re: POS software for your store

I think that POS system is made for an antique mall where you have a lot of different venders.  That way you can keep track of all of them and their consignment.  I am sure you do not have to barcode all your items but you can have a general category barcodes near the register so you can keep track of what sells i.e. furniture, dishware, tools, etc. That should help you buy in the future as well.

Merry Christmas to all of you and thanks for all the help you provided.

The Atari games are worth about $5 a piece on Ebay and I might sell the whole lot for $75.  It will not break my heart if I don't sell it anytime soon.
I still have fond memories of that system.

I am keeping one nice decanter set and giving my parents and sister one.  That will be a nice compromise.
How much pottery have you found?

It was 1983 and my parents were immigrants and never truly understood what a young boy wanted for Christmas.  They loved me and worked very hard but it was a very different culture.  Christmas morning I opened this present and I have never felt more excited about a present.

I completely disagree with what he said in the interview, but I believe people should be able to say what they think.  I choose not to watch the show but I think anyone who does should be able to since the show is not nearly as offensive as some of the others on TV.

In the long run this should be a boon for Duck Dynasty.

These were in a couple of tubs in the back of a great unit with men's clothes and shoes.  These are so hard for me to sell because they are so beautiful.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Have you ever found a hand gun?

I too have found a couple of shotguns but no handguns.  I think most people especially in Texas keep them with them and they are easy to pawn.

Another tip would be to save the images and use a good photo editor to blow them up.

Yep, different units appeal to different people. As resellers, we should buy anything we can make money on; however, as humans, it's easy to get attached. I agree, it is like a poker match, especially on days like today in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. There were around 100 units for sale. It takes a lot of time and research to make a day like today a success. I spent around 8 hours looking at all of the units. Narrowed it down to about 12 that had potential. Made a profit spreadsheet for all of them. Then whittled it down to the real money makers or units that had things in them that I wanted and knew I could get for free after selling the other items.

That was a crazy day for online storage auctions. The one unit I really got attached to and was willing to go high on got cancelled about 30 minutes before the end of it.  And to follow the poker analogy, I went on a little tilt and picked up four units for cheap.  Alls well that ends well though, I made money on all of them but still sad about the one that got away.  Travis it was the one with the shelving and computer monitors in the front.  I spotted something nice in the back.

The Lounge / Re: Why aren't there used tool stores?
« on: December 16, 2013, 07:27:42 PM »
I think used tools are a bonus when it comes to storage auctions.  I rarely go looking for tools but when I find them I know I can get a couple of bucks per tool or even 10-20 for the power ones.  I price to move and they help cover the expense of buying a unit.
Used tools to men are like handbags to women.  When they really want one they will go and get a new one but if they see a good deal on a used one they cannot resist even if they do not need it.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: How do you gain connections?
« on: December 12, 2013, 06:29:10 AM »
One place that I made some connections that really surprised me was at a gun show.
I brought a Knight's Armament Quad Rail system that I found in a locker to a show to try and sell it and was able to get some great contacts.  I have been able to sell camping equipment, propane tanks, and other interesting knick knacks to these folks.  Here in the Dallas area we have a show almost every other week and its a tight knit community.  I do not drive my van with my Obama sticker though. :)

SB is having some server issues but it is because of their traffic.
The new VSA interface is pretty nice but again auctions are what drives me and its not even close right now in Dallas.  SB does need to get its act together with servers but I bet they are making a bundle right now.
I do think though I will use VSA after the new year to list my own auction it is user friendly.
