The Lounge / I am so unbelievably sad right now.
« on: May 11, 2015, 01:08:51 PM »
I can't stand it...I lost my little ferret buddy Nippy Friday night.

<------ Nippy "Nip"

In July 2013 I lost her sister Pippy which devastated me for a long time. I kind of blamed it on the fact I had brought her into the vet to have a tumor removed and she died suddenly while waiting in recovery after the surgery and the loss of her was an unexpected shock. Nippy was different, she had been sick for a couple of months so I kind of knew the day was coming and was prepared for it. Well I was wrong, I wasn't prepared. After having her bring joy and happiness into my life every single day for the past 8-1/2 years, then add on all of the daily attention I gave her between hand feeding her medicines followed by her favorite treats ever since she became sick and I find myself missing her terribly. Placing her into the ground Saturday, knowing I would never lay eyes on her again has crushed me. I never thought I could care so much about something as I do these pets of mine.

I'm not looking for any sympathy, I guess I just needed to write this down somewhere, so that I wouldn't forget to remember.

1. If you're going to use a video or pictures make sure you light up the unit and don't shake the camera.
2. When you post that the unit was only entered to shoot the video/pictures, don't show the unit being opened with a key in the video.
3. Post more than 4 pictures, especially if the first one is of the outside of the unit with the door closed.
4. Saying, "Here's pretty awesome unit" is a written guarantee and no longer your opinion, you can be sued if it does not turn out to be an awesome unit to the buyer.

Let's say a super favorite person that you adored beyond belief, like an actor/actress, political figure, corporate CEO, etc. bought an item from you. Would you just send it to them for free with a "thanks for the memories" note, or would you treat them and charge them just like anyone else?

Stories about Storage Auctions / I Knew Something Was Odd About Her.
« on: September 11, 2014, 01:36:08 PM »
One of the auctions I'm at today I notice this young lady walk in, never saw her before and she looked a bit out of place. There were 16 units and she followed us around to all of them, bidding on only the last one. She wins the last unit and then mutters under her breath, "yeah got my stuff back."

So it was her rental unit that she had defaulted on and for $110 won all her stuff back. Once others found this out they were like, "oh if I knew I wouldn't have bid on it." All the while I'm thinking to myself, if I knew it was her's I would've bid it up another $100 just because she tried screwing over the storage facility. I tried to find how much she had owed but couldn't.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Storage Facility Kicks a Kid Out
« on: September 11, 2014, 01:27:19 PM »
So the first auction I'm at today there's this man with his 4-year old son he brought along, only kid there. After that auction we move along to the next facility, but since there were only 2 units at the first auction, we all got to the second auction 40-minutes early. A few minutes before the start of the auction the facility manager sends the auctioneer out to tell this man he can't bring his son in due to insurance regulations.

Now I've been to this facility many times and there have been kids there in the past, so either they're starting all of the sudden to crack down on kids being there, or perhaps, just perhaps this all had something to do this this man being of Arabic decent and today being 9/11. :017:

I found it interesting that Dan Dotson chose to allow the producers to use his aneurysm surgery ordeal in last night's episode.

General Storage Auction Talk / A fix for dead HP and Compaq Laptops.
« on: August 24, 2014, 04:04:23 PM »
Ever find a laptop that didn't boot up? This is usually caused by broken solder joints from the constant heat up and cool down cycle. They can be fixed by stripping down the motherboard and placing it in an oven to reflow the solder. I personally did this just yesterday for the first time and the dead laptop now works like new.
