Also SWLA next episode is a christmas episode at dan and laura's house.  mary is awful as ever (luckily they found something playful for her last episode) and its jumped the shark.

If they reboot and you get back on the only way to do well is to use it for something else like an ebook or sponsorships.  Otherwise original will keep wasting your money to make themselves $$$ behind the scenes.

Its a disgusting industry.

If Joe P lost $70k from the show he'll eventually lose than in people running him up as well.  The only way to survive post show is like candy and courtney and not actually do this for a living.  The other two mooks will do fine because they dont actually do auctions full time either.

Joe used to venture into LI for the good spots but that is where someone pulled his pony tail and I haven't seen him there since.  Only time I see him is in the city and he looks broken.

we might also have different definitions of roach infested which is why there is a disconnect.

For me anything that smells like animal, animal urine, dead animal hair in boxes ..etc. that goes in a heartbeat.

Any soft good from a really really dirty room goes straight to the dumpster ..etc.

The rat room I got was a 10x30 packed to the ceiling.  The rats were all in the bottom.  After skimming off the first foot or two I kept the rest and sold.

I've also had rooms where I made 10x my money in the first couple of feet, did a quick sort of the other stuff and tossed just because I didn't have the time or interest to sort, store and sell the balance.

For me winter is my time to buy all the big units.  Most people don't have the space or dont want to work out in the cold so I start picking them up for prestoragewars days.  The cheaper I buy them for the less I have to be a miser about every piece.

Also my family thinks I'm the black sheep of the family because I do this.  However I make more part time than most of them do full time sitting in a cubicle farm wasting their lives away.

I don't recall the exact number but I believe Joe P said he is out somewhere in the neighborhood of $50k by being on the show.

The amount he is out as a result of being on the show could be more.  Every time I see him out and he bids on a room someone yells Yuup and bids him up.  Rooms that he used to get for $1k he is at least paying 1500-2k for just because people don't like him now.

He used to be the guy a lot of people feared but now they make fun of him to his face, call him hollywood ..etc.  The worst i saw was when one guy grabbed his ponytail.. its totally cringe.

This is a tough game and NYC/LI is a tough market.

From our last convo he is 100% out unless they come through with a huge payday ... which they are not going to do as I'm sure you know from your meetings.

Wait a second. You mean that there was resell-able merchandise, but because of the roaches, you tossed it?

I just read resellable and didn't open much ... if you didn't open every box and pick through every roach this aint the business for you.

One of my better gold rooms had 36 .. yes 36 dead rats in it.  Garbage filled to the ceiling, dirty diapers, cat litter ..etc.  Found 6 oz of gold when it was at 1700/oz.

You gots to dig!

Plus no one but you knows that there was a roach on it.  Half of the places you eat at probably have some roaches in the kitchen.

had a tough bust last week 10x20, commercial boxed goods, from the door it looked like about $4k in slow but sellable stuff.  Popped at 1k plus rent because it was far outside my usual territory.  All boxes were empty or were filled with clothes.  Total bust.

win some lose some.

"Pay The Lady" & "Don't Forget To Pay The Lady" seem quite generic also.

I can't stand either of them anymore.  He looks like like he is about to have a heart attack at any given second and her voice is as shrill as ever.

Saw this at the bottom of the page.  Not sure if we should revive the topic but I was at the bank earlier putting my recent pittance of gold into the safety deposit box and took everything out.

My biggest find is just the accumulation of gold/silver ..etc.  has to be around 200k retail at this point.

Biggest find in a single room was 100k in gold.  1 necklace being 25k of it.  I tried to put a pic but it says its too big.

Looks like SW is still going ...

Next week's new episode marks #7.

Also this week had Mary becoming a main cast member and setting up a new shop/store.  As the production co. are obviously paying for the move, rent ..etc. they must see at least one more season after this one wraps up.

I'm not sure why they think Mary is going to be a big draw and/or "shake things up".  I'd much prefer bubba from Texas.  Mary doesn't have the bank roll to go against original cast members.  She resorted to picking furniture out of the garbage.

Production keeps making poor choices.  I just don't get the casting manipulation and why they think its going to work.

Every unit has that one piece in that back with the "Wow" factor that will either make or break the unit.

Sadly selling smalls is the name of the game.

Very few facilities in Long Island want the personal stuff back anymore.  They used to have a room set aside for it but now they say to toss it all.

I had a room a month ago that had every baby photo, wedding album, urns ..etc. and asked the facility to take it and they said the best we'll do is let you use our dumpster to throw it out.

Turns out the guy was in the hospital and came back 3 weeks later for it and it was all long gone.

I felt bad on that one.
