The Treasure Chest / Re: Score
« on: July 20, 2017, 02:10:59 AM »
Successful finds like this are what motivate me to attend storage auctions! However, I have not personally been to one so I have doubts as to whether there are really hidden treasures in there or are they just junk and not worth even a single penny. I think I would need to tag along when a friend or a family goes for bidding and witness the uncovering process myself so as to truly believe.

Wow! I guess you really need to dig deep to uncover hidden treasures. Just imagine what a pity if the glove had been stored inside a furniture piece instead and you had sold it unknowingly. It takes patience to go through every successful storage auction bid before you can truly reap some profits.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: When do YOU cut your losses?
« on: July 10, 2017, 03:12:18 AM »
I would analyze my current situation and decide if I really need the money or do I really need the space? If I need to clear the space and room as soon as possible, then I wouldn't mind to cut back on my losses. I wouldn't mind even if I get just a few bucks as long as I have the space that I really need which is my main intention of the sale afterall.

I think you could sell them to individuals as opposed to large retailers. Usually large retailers need to pay a certain tax amount to become a reseller so if you were to simply sell them without the tax portion, then you might be charged on that aspect. It is better to be safe than sorry especially if the profits that you are looking to reel in are not that high and not worth the possible risks.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: What items to look for?
« on: December 16, 2015, 03:10:36 AM »
You should look out for features that often attract buyers like the good condition of the items, furniture pieces, electronics, automobiles, and anything sellable. If the storage unit gets opened up and all that you get to see are boxes and newspapers, you probably should not go for that one. However, what lies underneath the surface could sometimes surprise you.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Best way to sell DVD's?

There are various online platforms that take them in bulk but they usually pay you very little like a few cents for each dvd. I personally would prefer to sell them in person like in pawn shops or drop them off at a neighbor’s garage sale. With that many dvds you obtained from your storage unit, I bet there are at least some good titles.

New to Storage Auctions? / Re: Unit full of bikinis
« on: December 16, 2015, 02:35:18 AM »
Yup I totally agree that there are and will definitely be people who are willing to buy those used bikinis and lingerie. It is not uncommon these days especially with online platforms that hide the buyer’s true identity behind virtual anonymity. Hence, I think the contents of your storage units will fetch quite a sum of money indeed.

The key is to start small and instead of an entire warehouse, you should scout for a slightly smaller location like a room or a storage unit. From there, you can monitor the in and out flows of your possessions which will then allow you to gauge roughly where the nature of this business is going and whether or not you would need a larger floor area.

eBay / Re: Strange EBAY dispute resolution
« on: July 01, 2015, 01:51:44 AM »
It is true that they have the buyer/seller protection policy, hence it is quite difficult to pursue the case in your favour. Nevertheless, like you said since you have received the returned item in original packaging, then perhaps you do have a case since the claim is not valid that it was not as described. I have had a similar encounter before with some storage boxes I sold but I decided to let the matter blow over as it was too much of a hassle to pursue.

eBay / Re: Selling Gift Cards on eBay
« on: June 25, 2015, 09:42:07 PM »
I think if you are selling cards, (or any other product that sells in bulk), it might be a good idea to try with a local neighbourhood first. When you're a little more established, see if you can start a website and advertise instead of using eBay as a tool. More professional that way. But good luck!

eBay / Re: Typical Ebay Dispute with a Buyer..
« on: June 24, 2015, 11:00:56 PM »
I feel that it is really unfair that there is such a dispute option of “Item not as described” which buyers often take advantage of to their fullest benefit. Sometimes they just use that as an excuse to get a full refund for things that they do not need or want after they have received them. I know the protection policy is there to prevent any unfair transactions, but sellers are the ones being treated unfairly instead. For my previous posting of storage boxes, I measured them manually by hand and ensured they were exactly as described.
