eBay / Re: Anyone have success selling clothes on ebay?
« on: April 26, 2011, 03:31:06 PM »
I only keep clothes that are new w/ tag or in otherwise like-new condition. I don't usually have trouble selling them, however, with clothes, pricing is everything.

eBay / Re: Do you leave feedback immediately upon recieving payment?
« on: April 26, 2011, 03:30:02 PM »
I have mixed views on this. When someone has paid promptly, their portion of the transaction is done and it's entirely appropriate for the seller to leave feedback right then and there. However, eBay long ago decided to side more with the buyers than sellers, especially considering that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for someone (ridiculous). As a seller, I will often leave feedback from someone only to never receive any in return. For those last two reasons I've stopped leaving feedback for people right away when selling. I wait until I receive it. Also, to keep the feedback stream going, I tend to post this in my listing and will send a follow up message later to the buyer, reminding them to leave fb.

Sounds like a good unit for $150. I think I'll start trying to hit the auctions on rainy days to see if the crowds are thinned out any.

It's not as fun as it used to be. Units that would have brought $400 in the past go for over $1000 now. And now these shows are gearing up for a second season.

Stories about Storage Auctions / Re: 2 Units Sell for $27000

Not me...this is the only auction forum I'm a member of. I was googling "27000 storage auction unit" since a friend mentioned it was in the papers here. I found a few places online where it was mentioned. I was dying to know what was in that one!

I've seen the debtors show up a few times, usually to beg to purchase some of their items back. Most of the folks take their contact info and pledge to get in touch with them later...after they've had a chance to go through everything.

I've heard some horror stories about debtors being given contact info they shouldn't have, and then showing up at the homes of successful bidders. When I register at each auction, I use a Google Voice phone number and a PO Box for my address; I'm not that easy to find.

Stories about Storage Auctions / 2 Units Sell for $27000
« on: April 24, 2011, 12:44:21 AM »
I was at this auction, the bidding was crazier than I had ever seen before. This took place in Northern Virginia back in Feb. The two units were owned by the same person and auctioned as a set for $27000.

General Storage Auction Talk / Re: Talk about a small crowd !

I too was shocked last year to show up at an auction and find only2 other people there. Just one of those days...this was before the shows came out too. Nowadays I'm happy if only 20-30 people show up, heh.

Florida hunters...be sure to let us know if/when the producers tell you which units you must bid on and win. I have friends who have been at this for decades, all of them think we're seeing staged units. A poster on the Storage Wars forum pointed out that some of the toys shown in one "find" (I think it was Jarrod) were so rare that he knows which collection they were borrowed from for the show.

Reality Shows about Storage Auctions / Re: Auction Hunters is FAKE!!!

Both shows include staged units in my opinion. Information was posted on the Storage Wars forum several months ago that really called one of their units into question.

Hello forum, checking in from Virginia here. I've been going to the auctions for just over a year. Glad to have found a place to talk about them!
