Title: Auction Hunters Fall Season, 2011
Post by: MovieMan on October 04, 2011, 05:01:33 PM
The boys are in reruns, tons of reruns, but the new season starts.....

October 25, 2011 on Spike.

Still waiting for the film footage of a dump run or to see them make less than 10x the money on a $500 purchase !

It's funny, when I tell people that I buy storage units they always ask two questions in some form "Is it just like the shows" and " What good stuff have you found". It's almost like deflating a balloon when I tell them that you can find valuable items but you have to be able to make your money selling common household goods. The most I've sold a single item for is 100.00, yet I have been very profitable. Selling hundreds of clothes at 50 cents isn't as sexy as a hovercraft but I'll do it. When the boys find one of the retired space shuttles in a unit I'm not watching anymore.

Now if we could just deflate about 4.5 million balloons of the people watching the shows !  One balloon at a time I guess.

I've had a brand new, in the box, hand kitchen mixer that won't even sell for $3....I think they're $10 or so new in the store, maybe less.

Bandit....

They actually found BOTH those at ONE facility !  The first was under a canvas which had mattresses piled on top and a particle board chest in front of it.

The second was in another lkr (owned by a different tenant) and was way at the back and pretty much concealed by 50 boxes of old newspapers formerly used in kitty litter boxes...what a stink!

Unfortunately after the 10 day mandatory waiting period, the two owners had paid the back dmv fees and the boys lost the goodies...but they got the mattresses, kitty papers, etc !  ;D

I missed the "buying" part of tonight's show, but it's ending now and they made
$3600 profit.

I actually got a pitching machine a couple of years ago....it was the big brand (don't remember now), but all the wiring was cut at the base. I put it on eBay and if I recall correctly the sale took place outside eBay....sold it to a guy in Texas who made all the transport arrangements. Did I get $4500 like the tv guys? No; I think I got $375.

The jaws of life on tonight's show was fun to watch in action, but have ANY of you guys ever got one in a lkr? No? I didn't think so.

The show goes on...as fake as ever.

LAME!  Really LAME.  These guys are Storage Wars Wana=-bee's.  Though the show is an absolute joke/farce...the least the producers could do  to make it entertaining  is manage to work some character  into the script by having a possible buyer/collector Refuse to buy their item.  That old start high, start low and meet in the middle is really lame.  These guys don't even pay an appraisal fee! Come on dude.  They ask a collector what it's worth...then they they turn around and get the collector to give them half of his appraisal.  A collector that knows what he's buying is not going to give out his data for free.  Come on dude.  Watch a real show with real people like Storage Wars.  These guys in Auction Hunters are the only people buying/bidding.  The real kick is that every unit always has something mysteriously hidden alongside the  rest of the junk...for a grand total profit for the day of $9,895.95 !  Come on! Lame as they come.!

Im done with this show.  They bought two units and scored a dune buggy and a mustang pool table?  I call bulls**t.

I liked how the guy looking at the dune buggy asked "does it run" and Allen saying he had no clue.  RIIIIIGHT.  The VERY FIRST thing I would do is see if it ran.  Then again, I doubt I will find a dune buggy in a locker.

Surprised no one mentioned the guys donating the Jaws of Life machine. Unlike most of the posters here, I really like/enjoy all three of the shows. Although Storage Hunters is cheesy as hell, the auctioneer is hilarious. My balls itch! New episodes must be starting Tuesday!
