Darrell's Biggest Score Ever - But Can We Believe It?
« on: December 18, 2012, 10:15:04 PM »
So Darrell makes his biggest score ever on dozens of Frank Gutierrez paintings valued at $300,000. But, in light of the recent allegations made by Dave Hester, can we believe this is real? I can't see a famous artist or art dealer letting a storage unit like that go into foreclosure. Surely, if they hit hard times, they would just sell a painting. My BS meter is going off.

Sure you can beleive it! You saw it on tv and just cause they claim the show is fake people must beleive or know one will watch. I work in the media and if this claim is true they have violated a serious FCC vialotion and they will get a huge fine and this will make national news big enough to get everyones attention to the tv show storage wars.

What FCC violation is that? Can you direct us to the part of Title 47 that is in?

Like in the movie Kingpin  The book says its against it. It takes way to long and I dont have enough time to give the details Lets let the readers do there own reasearch or when the case is in front of the judge people can get the details that way.

I understand, there is a lot of information to look through. I just thought that you might know what section it was in.

Met another storage buyer awhile back who was out west buying for 5-6yrs he was at one of the tapings with ton jones. He bought a unit at same facility as them and when he was clearing his out he watched the crew planting items in their unit before filming.

You would think that a score that big would make national news but it hasn't got much attention. Perhaps the media doesn't want to touch the story after Dave Hester's allegations.

I was at the auction in Montebello when Sheets bought that locker. The one I saw on the show looked just like the one I saw in person.

There was artwork visible, but you couldn't see it clearly enough to gauge the quality. Some of the other stuff made me think its former owner might be Latino. Some boxes labled in Spanish. Wish I got that locker instead of the crud I outbid Barry for.

No you can't see me in that episode. I am certain they re-shot the bidding. On the actual auction day it was hot. We were inside a 3 story facility that is not well ventilated, much less climate controlled. There were about 100 people there including the TV crew. We were jam packed. They were having trouble getting there shots.

At one point, Barry told Laura Dotson, "I will be in my air conditioned car phoning in my bids".

I've often wondered if the engineers who design storage facilities ever took into consideration that there might be 100+ people standing in the hallway at the same time. I'm sure we will hear of a storage facility collapse on the news one of these days.

Frank A. Gutierrez is my father. This storage was in Montebello, CA. My father's paintings are not worth $300,000. My father is a local artist/painter in Montebello, CA.

I don't know where they got the $300,000 price for all of my dad's paintings. I found this to be hilarious. I have many of my dad's paintings and my dad only puts them for $100, $75, or up to $2,000 on his big painting; but that's my dad's asking price, NOT the worth of the painting.

Darrell is a fake to call my dad at saying it's a quarter of a million bucks.

That's what we figured. Your father really is talented though. Hopefully this exposure will be a good for him. Perhaps the fictitious appraisal will increase demand for his work and allow your father to get more for his paintings.

To be fair... there could have been 300 paintings in the locker  ???
I bought a locker! ... ... ... Now I gotta sell it?
