Title: Jeff Jarred's New Website
Post by: Travis on April 19, 2013, 11:13:05 AM
Jeff Jarred from Storage Wars just started following VirtualStorageAuction.com on Twitter. I noticed he has a new website. You can find it at jeffjarred.com.

You might consider removing that link. There is a virus on the page that really pisses off my computer.

That message is not due to a virus, that message is a result of your computer not being able to process one or more scripts on the page.

That's not to say the link shouldn't be removed. But I'd remove only because the guy is a jerk, and not because of the poorly written webpage scripts.

I didn't have any problems when I visited the page...other than navigational links not working and the scary picture.

I've been using the free version of Panda Cloud for a couple years now and nothing gets past it. But then again, I don't really visit sites that are high risk.  ;)

Exactly, a mis-configured script is a virus...

That is incorrect, it is just bad programming. On a stretch it could possibly fall into the Malware category, but never the computer virus category.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_virus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_virus)

Computer virus
A computer virus is a computer program that can replicate itself[1] and spread from one computer to another. The term "virus" is also commonly, but erroneously, used to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have a reproductive ability.

Malware includes computer viruses, computer worms, ransomware, trojan horses, keyloggers, most rootkits, spyware, dishonest adware, malicious BHOs and other malicious software. The majority of active malware threats are usually trojans or worms rather than viruses.[2] Malware such as trojan horses and worms is sometimes confused with viruses, which are technically different: a worm can exploit security vulnerabilities to spread itself automatically to other computers through networks, while a trojan horse is a program that appears harmless but hides malicious functions. Worms and trojan horses, like viruses, may harm a computer system's data or performance. Some viruses and other malware have symptoms noticeable to the computer user, but many are surreptitious or simply do nothing to call attention to themselves. Some viruses do nothing beyond reproducing themselves.

I get the feeling you are much younger than I am as evidenced by your use of micro-terminology.

Rest assured, I won’t do the favor again!

Since when is accuracy monopolized only by the young? I have been involved with computers since the late 70s. Back then there were only simple viruses. Words like malware and spyware were unheard of because those devices had not descended upon the general public. As they became more and more common to the public the terms were added to our daily vocabulary, while existing terms were redefined. That's just the plain fact of computer evolution. Staying abreast of even these simple changes is no easy matter, due to the rapid changing landscape of the computer systems being integrated into our daily lives these days. There is never any shame associated with not being aware, that shame is reserved for how one reacts when they confronted with accuracy and fail to act with dignity. Now what kind of cheese and crackers would you like with your whine?

Absolutely not, never in a million years. There are two things in this world that I hate doing. One is painting, the second is writing.

And yet, your the 5th...and soon to be the 4th largest contributor in this forum's history.

I get it though, there are a few things I hate doing like moving things. But for some reason, I don't feel like I'm in the wrong business.  :D

Correct. But 898 one liners put together makes a great novella.

Jeff Jarrod's a chud.  I loved it when Dan & Laura busted his ass out on SW.

I do find his daughter kinda hot, though.
