Human Cremains
« on: February 02, 2013, 06:55:51 PM »
Got my first one a couple weeks ago. The facility refused to take any personals from the 2 units I won. All the box had on it was a name. What would you have done with them?

That's one of the rare instances where I would've asked for the unit owners name and then attempted to make contact.

Not saying I would do this personally, but I have known others to take urns to flea markets and dump the contents on the ground under the tables and use an old rag to wipe the inside out and put it on the table for sale.

That's not good. I'm not saying I wouldn't sell the urn, but I would treat the deceased with more dignity.

NASTY!  LOL!  I've found six sets of cremains in lockers.  I had a friend helping me on one locker and he grabbed a box and opened one end and he's asking me why somebody would just put ashes in a box as he stuck his finger in them.  I laughed at him and told him to shut the box and look on the other end....it was Grandma!  Had the Name, birthday, and day she died on the end flap.  Then we found her drivers license......I said, "hey, looks like she's lost some weight"!  LOL

My grandad was given 24 hours to live, so he drank a bottle of vodka and ate three packets of fireworks.

It didn't save his life, but it gave us one hell of a show at the cremation.  ;D

Only cremains I have found so far were cats. There is no way I would dump out someones ashes and sell the urn.....ok well maybe if it was solid gold or something but generally no, I would find a way to get them back to the owner. If the storage facility refused to take them I'd abandon them anonomously at a funeral home or something. Maybe if the urn was valuable I'd dump the ashes in the ocean. People pay lots of money to have their ashes scattered in the ocean so that wouldn't be too disrespectful. I don't know, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

One of my last units had both the parents in it. First time for me to find remains. Dr Jim and Mrs Jim had divorced in the 70's. Dr Jims son left all of his paperwork in the unit as well. Manager wanted nothing back. Long story short Dr Jim had instructions to be buried in his family plot in another state. Contacted the cemetery (was an odd conversation) but found everything is paid for. Dr Jim is on his way to his final resting place via first class mail. Mrs Jim will have a proper burial at sea in the spring. Lucky for both of them I have made great money off of their sons unit and I truly believe in karma.
