Yesterday I went to my first auctions in couple months. Last was not long afters new auction shows started. Crowds where noticeably larger then. But prices where not that much higher. Not to many people bidding most just looking. Yesterday was stupid prices. Couple of the regulars where saying it was because of income tax returns. Any of you guys see the same.

The income tax return suggestion has been made in my area for years and is probably valid especially when tied into the tv shows as a GUARANTEED way to make at least $1k on EVERY locker you buy.  ;D

What, you don't?  ???  Dammit!  Time for me to find a new career!

Oh, and the income tax refund thing is a double edged sword.  What about all those people perusing my CL ads that got their tax refund and now are buying my stuff!!

I would like to see a tax refund again. I always have to send them a check. Which reminds me. If a buy a $600 unit, do I have to send them a 1099?

Only if you want to claim the locker cost as a business deduction.  I send out 1099s to the auctioneers.

I don't think tax refunds are going to bring out crowds, what will is when the second season of storage wars comes back.

I agree with whoemever talked about people buying stuff. I'll actulaly sit on tv's, playstations and other electronics waiting for tax time, that stuff sells like crazy and for good prices on craigslist come tax time.
