Title: My first auction in Las Vegas just some FYI
Post by: lucky13 on October 11, 2011, 11:15:54 AM
Went to a caravan auction that was supposed to be 13 diiferent storage places. It ended up to be only 3 due to a recent change in the lien laws.

First place had 3 units and about 50 people there.

1st was a 10x20 that went for $1550 it was pretty full and had alot of tvs and electronics furniture ect.
2nd was office desks went for like 500 i think that was high they were cheap ones lol
3rd was a headboard a few old chairs 1/2 a surrond sound system and an xbox....went for 900 lol

There was a little old lady that got the 1st and 3rd units.....was kinda weird till i found out she had a storefront and a crew in Parhump.

Second place had same amount of units and people at it.
2 units belonged to the same person one of them had a safe at the front ( kinda speculated on how it got to the front lol) there was just office junk in them nice shelves and a big printer/copier in it and a mystery crate that was like 5 ft by 3 ft. the units went for $1000

The 3rd one was personal junk and pappers a canopy tent thing, was neatly stacked plastic tubs though. It sold for i think about 450.

The last place had 16 units for auction and like 100 ****in people. Ladies with kids and strollers in was a nightmare. There was a good 2 5x10's aution that went for $1400 full of ' Man Stuff' I thought the guy did ok getting it at that price but he was complaining to himself he didnt really want it....that was strange.

the rest of the units were mainly junk stuff that looked like it was gone though and left or just was left over from a move.
one with just a couch in it
one with a scooter and a couch
a few with just misc items fish tank ect.
just reg peoples stuff in them
they went from $60 - $900.

There was one that had just one army footlocker in it...has a red cross on the side ....didnt look antique at all but it went for $510
I though that was a dumb buy but didnt stick around to see what he got in it lol

Overall I thought it was a good learning expirence and nice to see that most units didnt get into the outragouse prices. Def was more people than I thought ( looky loos like i was doing) but the reg people were the main ones bidding and winnig the units. The reg auction people I met were real friendly and talkitive. The auctioneer was a friendly guy as well. Really looking forward to going to more auctions and placing bids. I dont want to just be a looky loo and take up space in a small hallway. Got some money to get started with and a few resources for selling stuff lined up.

I want to say thanks for all the advise I have read on here from the guys who have been doing this and a qucik apology for wanting to start doing it as I can see the compitition is a hard part of this bussiness.

Good luck to all just wanted to let the forum know what Vegas was looking like.

wow, with just reading what you wrote, and not seeing it for myself, it seems to me some of those lockers still went higher than what they would of been before the shows.

They do go for alot in vegas! My friend Johnny that owns a thrift store goes from Utah to vegas all the time and he says people way over bid in Vegas. He jacks the prices up all the times to get rid of the tv show bidders.
