It's no surprise to long-time buyers that there is almost always a lot of trash in the lockers and that means not only the work of disposing of it, but the cost as well.
What is the most you have paid in dump fees?
-
Over $200 at the dump for a 10 x 40 full of junk. My worst laocker ever. I rarely get by with less then $20 but the new minimum this year is $22 so that is what I figure to add per load of trash I can see.
-
$105 on a 5x10 (it was actually a pretty good unit too)
-
My best summation of storage locker buying is,
Cardboard crap shoot combined with volunteer trash hauling.

I feel for those of you that have to pay to dump. I have never paid a dime to dump. We can unload a flat pickup load every day at a convienence center with no cost. We also can dump up to a ton for free per year at the landfill 5 miles away. Took 2 mattress/box spring sets and old couch yesterday and chucked it right in the dumpster. I love Tennessee...no income tax and free dumping. :-*

As an added bonus, you get to marry your cousins! :D

$38.00 but the scrap metal made me $126 so it was not that bad. I did have a recycle dumpster delivered recently and that has save a lot of dump fees. All paper, cardboard, glass, and paperback books go in it and I don't have to haul it.

Yesterday I dumped two recliners, a mattress, two tires, some broken down furniture and five bags of garbage (moldy clothes, boxes.....).
Cost: $21.87
Didnt charge extra for tires or mattress. That's the cheapest dump run I've ever done.......

Thank Alias for posting in this thread. I forgot about it. I have found out since I posted about my recycle that shoes, clothes, CDs, and VHS tapes can also go in my recycle. I called the trash company that I got the dumpster from and had them fax me a list of acceptable thing to put in. I was surprised and very happy as it has cut down my dump cost significantly.

Oh do I miss that!
Recyclers came to me.
Dumpsters.
Tire pile.
We even had HazMat bins.

In NC, no charge to dump in your county. I also have a community trash so I can dump stuff there too.. You'd be surprised at how much I throw away that will get picked up by a neighbor.

Doesn't surprise me. One of the buyers who used to buy only the $5 lockers (now they are $25 to $50 lockers) once told me..."You throw away more than I buy."
There really is some truth to the old saw..."one man's trash is another man's treasure."

Everyone loves a good dump fee

Once paid $150 for a 14ft box truck full of trash.
There is only one dump in my area and had no other option.
Came back about a month later with a 20ft stake bed truck full, $70.
No scale, so it mainly depends on how they are feeling that day.

Big fees little profit
