Title: Went "halvies" with another bidder
Post by: Highlander on February 24, 2011, 08:51:25 AM
Bought two lockers yesterday.  First one went for 70 bucks and had a Frigidaire gas range/oven in it along with a few boxes of books and a ceramic rooster collection.

Then at the next auction, I ran into a bidder I met at the first two auctions.  We got there late.  Drove across town and watched the aucioner, property manager and the "bidders" leaving on the golf cart.  We hung around for a little bit and before longer all returned.  The "bidders" was a husband/wife team that bought one of the two lockers for $80.  Pat and I were told that the other locker was still available but had a minimum bid of $300.

It was a 10x30 that had belonged to a sporting goods rep.  In the very front of the locker were more than 10 cases of brand new athletic clothes, balls, bats, backpacks, swim goggles, jerseys and baseball gloves.  Beyond that were five display racks followed by five sealed shipping boxes that were 6-7 feet x four feet.

My curiousity was peaked, and I guess so was Pats.  He looked at me and asked I I would go halves with him.  I was just thinking the same thing.

Turned out the the shipping boxes were just displays.  We sold all the balls and soccer shin guards to Play it again sports and recovered $117.  We spend the afternoon dividing up the stuff.  I should make about $250-$300 over my cost at my yard sale this weekend on the clothes and backpacks.  Its just gonna be a pain it the ass to get rid of the rest.
