Title: A comment from an auctioneer who actually sold to Allen and Ton
Post by: MovieMan on May 09, 2011, 08:23:42 PM
I went to an auction today (Monday, May 9, 2011)  held by John Cardoza.

Cardoza is seen (very briefly) in the opening credits to Auction Hunters. He is the one who says "Sold em out" if you want to see him.

Anyway, he said today at the auction that the episode in which he sells to Allen and Ton will be on in about a month..that would put it maybe mid June.

I asked him if he could say anything about the show and he indicated he could say a little. What he DID say was that there was no way of knowing what might have happened to the contents of the lkr once he had sold it. If I read that properly, sounds like the producers could SALT the contents.

Cardoza commented about the disclaimer at the beginning of the show "their best finds", but I have to tell you if they did find a quadzilla and a hovercraft in years past, putting them BOTH in one facility that had 4 lkrs for sale wasn't a good strategy. That was the episode that sent them to the dark side as far as I was concerned.

Cardoza also commented that Ton wasn't happy when Cardoza ask (or told) him to put out his cigarette. When Ton responded "I'm the star of the show!" Cardoza responded, "It's my auction."

Cardoza said the auction took place in Ontario, CA (down south) but might be promoted as being in Rancho Cucomonga (sp). I guess Rancho C. sounds better.

Where are my robe and slippers? I'm the star of the show damn it. I asked for a Double Ristretto Venti Half-Soy Nonfat Decaf Organic Chocolate Brownie Iced Vanilla Double-Shot Gingerbread Frappuccino Extra Hot With Foam Whipped Cream Upside Down Double Blended, One Sweet'N Low and One Nutrasweet, and Ice and you totally screwed it up by adding 2 Sweet'N Lows. Take it back and get it right this time you imbecile.

So the fame has gone to Ton's head. Being in one episode of CSI and playing biker number two in some 1997 b-list movie must do that to ya...lol.

Brings up an interesting point though. Now that the characters from the show are recognized and Z list celebrities I think that affects the show negatively, makes it even less realistic, people hamming it up for camera time, etc.

I'll use Jersey Shore for example. Love it or hate it, it's like a car crash, Im addicted and cant stop watching. First season it was a bunch of idiot kids from Jersey acting like idiots but it was somewhat authentic. Second season they all started getting ego's, start to be minor celebrities, etc. Just changes the whole premise of hte show now that they are all making 5 mil a year with hydroxycut, and makeup lines and whatever else. Wondernig if the same thing is going to happen to storage wars.

Arte Johnson would find it interesting too:

Laugh-In

Johnson is best known for his work on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, an American television show (1967–1973), on which he played various characters including "Wolfgang", a smoking World War II German soldier scouting the show from behind a bush (still fighting the war) invariably commenting on the preceding sketch with the catch phrase "Very interesting..." followed by either a comic observation or misinterpretation, or simply "but stupid!" Johnson indicated later that the phrase came from Desperate Journey, a 1942 World War II film with Errol Flynn and Ronald Reagan playing Royal Air Force pilots shot down in Nazi Germany; they managed to cross much of the country without speaking German or knowing the territory but, when captured, their Nazi interrogator doubts their story with the phrase.[2
