Title: Twitter Updates for auction progress? Anyone else's auctioneers doing this?
Post by: rulesforrebels on August 18, 2011, 11:15:10 AM
The auctioneer who's auctions I attend the most is now on twitter. I think this is a fantastic idea.

Alot of times I don't like to attend the auction route for the whole day just jump in middway for the two auctions near my home or work. The thign that's a pain is no matter if you call the facility or text the auctioneer you always wind up waiting for an hour for the whole caravan to get there and auction to start.

With twitter now he tweets, everyone is paid up at such and such faciliity were heading to Harlem or something like that. Makes it easy to jump in for a couple midday auctions and skip the morning and afternoon. I love it.

Anyone else's auctioneers using twitter for this?

I'm in the back country...or so it seems at times.  None of the companies that I follow and get emails from have gone that route yet.  However, from the limited number of storage auctions around here it seems many of these places don't use auction companies.  For estate, equipment, etc. auctions you don't caravan around so is prob why they have not gotten into it.

Yea one does this in Atlanta.  Its cool i guess, but sometimes they wait way late on notifying people of cancellations.

This is even better for lazy auctioneers. In my area the auctioneers phone is blowing up with calls and texts all day long with people asking where they are, waht time will they be at such and such location, etc. Throughout the auction hsi phone is constantly going off.

With twitter he sends one tweet when leaving the facility instead of fielding a dozen calls and texts.

Yep.  I've scored great units with lz.  I love the amount of time they give to clean units out as well.

They do that here in Utah. But now due to the amount of people that are showing up a lot of places storage companys are doing there auctions on line. What sucks is there is a 10% fee that has to paid to auction company good thing is you save on gas and wasting time on junk units.
