Dying mom hopes to find lost family heirlooms

I know it sounds horrible, but don't these places send out several overdue payment notices? Is anyone familiar with the storage auction legal proceedings in Oregon, that can chime in here?

Public storage actually has more strict lien rules than the states lien laws.

PS as of 12/13 changed their auction proceedings to 60 days past due.  If she last paid on January 7 and she didn't pay from 1/7 - 2/7 and then from 2/7 - 3/7 she hit that mark and at the next auction her items would have been sold.

PS Orange has been sued on several occasions for improperly sending units to auction so they are very careful at this point.

In Long Island an entire run was cancelled ... 12 facilities and about 50 rooms ... because one name was misspelled.  They would rather eat the cost to rerun the ads and give the other tenants an additional 30 days to pay then risk getting sued.

In that period of the 60+ days they send several certified letters and call non stop to get you to pay.

Its cheaper for them to make a deal with you then deal with all of the nonsense that goes with sending a room to auction.

Its of course very sad for her and her family but the article says she has money, she knew her card was cancelled and knew she didn't receive a bill for 2 months.

Its on her.

Not to sound unsympathetic, but if she had trouble using the website, why didn't she pick up the phone or go by the storage facility? It's her own fault, and I find it ridiculous that the media even picked this story up.
