Title: Down Time
Post by: Travis on February 19, 2013, 02:27:27 PM
I apologize for anyone who was inconvenienced by the down time we had today. We were upgrading our hosting and there was a technical issue that the host really dropped the ball on. Of course, they enabled my IP so I had no idea the site was down until Alloro emailed me.

I guess you just figured everyone decided on the same day to stop posting? :)

Well I was on the site when it went down so I immediately got on the phone with the host. They said the issue was resolved so I checked the site and it was working for me. (They enabled my IP) I didn't realize that no one else could access the site. This all happened around 1:00 PM and I didn't get Alloro's email until around 8:00 PM, I wasn't on the site during this time.

So what was the deal about overloading their server?

Still trying to figure all of that out. We never overloaded the server on basic hosting but the day after I move to reseller hosting, it overloads the server...doesn't make sense, especially since there are only two sites on my reseller account and there was virtually no traffic yesterday when it happened.

I made a few changes to the forum yesterday that will hopefully speed things up. I also 86'd the Google Translate.

I guess the amount of usage by people in the former USSR and Norway, Italy, etc didn't warrant the need for translation.

I'm sure our comrades will understand. Truth be told, it really got annoying the way it cause the page to move around while it was loading.
