25 Worst Passwords of 2013

 
SplashData, which makes password management applications, has released its 2013 list of the 25 worst passwords based on files containing millions of stolen passwords posted online in the last year. “123456″ now tops “password,” which normally leads the round-up.
 
Here’s the full list:

“123456″ and “123456789″ were a couple of the most popular passwords believed to belong to Adobe users, according to a list published by security consulting firm Stricture Consulting Group in Nov. 2013 after Adobe confirmed a customer data breach a month earlier. That would also explain why “adobe123″ is at number 10 and “photoshop” is at number 15 on SplashData’s 2013 list.

Oops, time to change some of mine!

I'm guilty of a few of those. I'll use them on sites that don't store my financial information and that I don't feel are reputable. 

I don't know what's more dumb; using a password from the list above or using the same password for every site you visit. All it takes is one corrupt webmaster to ruin your life. He's got your password, email address and other personal info. Next thing you know, he's in your bank/Paypal account taking your money.

I bet some of you logged into this forum with the same password that you use for your online banking. Now, I would never even consider doing something unscrupulous, but whose to say that another webmaster wouldn't? Just food for thought.

Nope, all of my banking, credit card, investment, and PayPal accounts have different passwords. Also, all of my online utility bill passwords are different. I have so many different usernames and passwords for various sites that I have to record them and refer to that list from time to time.

Yeah, I have so many passwords I had to write them down.  On flash drive, encrypted and hidden.

Have to admit, I use some of those passwords but on stupid stuff that has no personal info and frankly I could care less if there was even a password at all.  Really, if some one wants to access my garbage bill and pay it, have at it!   The only info they can access is the same as if they stole my mail.  In fact, before I changed my password it was just my house number.   So. Basically, I can log into any of my neighbors accounts that have never logged on and/or changed it......
