National Geographic......BID and DESTROY !
« on: February 13, 2013, 09:35:15 AM »
Just discovered what is a NEW TO ME show on NAT GEO...it's called Bid and Destroy.

Guys bid on demolition jobs but lo and behold they find Harley Davidsons and other goodies INSIDE these places they are going to knock down.

*******

It also made me think that their title is really appropriate to what the Storage Wars TV shows (and the newbies) have done to the storage auction business....BID and DESTROY !

Just watched a half hour of this while checking email etc.

It looks as phoney as the Storage Wars shows.

******

Old Harley...he "gets" $1,500 for it from a restorer who says once restored he might get $7K.

A teddy bear makeup kit...about 3" tall...has a mirror and lipstick. Gets around $500 from "a friend" when
combined with a salt and pepper set for another $4,500.

******
Upcoming episode, cival war medal, antique gun.

*****

The other thing that gets me is these characters saying things like "You said it was worth $1,000 and you want to give me $500 !"  They are selling the things to dealers who are going to resell it for cripes sake!  Are these demo guys so dumb they don't know the concept of buying and selling and everyone making some money ?

Nope, can't watch anymore. I'm not THAT much of glutton for punishment.

*****

If the original Storage Wars ever comes back on, I'll watch that out of curiosity for where they will be going with finds, etc, but no Texas version for me. I'll watch NEW YORK too to see if they tone down the finds, but we may finally be seeing the end of the Wars shows somewhere down the line.

Some of the ideas for these "reality" shows are going way overboard. I'm flipping through channels last night and what do I come across...Ice Hunters. No friggin' joke, these guys are out on a boat "hunting" ice to bring back and sell. I'm currently waiting for the next big thing..."Watching Paint Dry with Walter".

Does anyone see any benefit in a national association for storage unit buyers?
