Title: Price Gouging
Post by: Travis on May 06, 2013, 05:40:20 PM
My wife and I bought an Acura a few weeks ago and it only came with one key. I went to the dealer to get a new key made and the remote programmed to memory seats/mirror function. Got the bill.....$235. For a key...are you kidding me? My first car didn't even cost that much....it was a Yugo. In high school, the big joke was to hide my car from me. After I parked it in the morning, 4-5 of my friends would pick it up and move it to the other side of the parking lot.  :D

This F'd p considering it takes two minutes to program and no special tools, just a sequence of turning key in ignition and pressing buttons.

We charge $30 for a standard key that you can get he EXACT same key cut at hardware store for $2.99.
$50-$150 for remote key you can by online for $10-25.

Same deal as you to program.  $50-$150 and takes 2 minutes and no tools.

Only one car do we need to actually use computer to program.

Just what did you think was going to happen? You thought maybe they were going to go easy on you? It's the dealer man...seriously! Next time try your local locksmith.

The locksmith doesn't have a Acura computer. Believe me, I would have if it was an option.

That's the price you pay to have a luxury car.. Unfortunately. Honda keys are $80.

Don't know if you meant the above comment to go in this thread or another one, but it is seeming accurate where ever it belongs.

My area is DEAD for quality lockers and decent prices.
