I had a hedgehog. New People moved into apartment next door and within a month my apartment was infested with cockroaches. My hedgehog ate them like candy......and died.
Now I'm sad. Thanks guys for the memories...... :'(

You've got to have some good ones. I sure do with my little band of thieves. One day the wife got so upset with them that she wanted them gone. I don't think it was even 3 minutes later that I had her suitcase down out of the attic and laid out on the bed for her to start packing. That was the last time she ever game me the. "it's them or me" scenario.

Hedgehogs are cool. Best thing is they eat anything so if you run out of thier food, whatever you made for dinner...toss it to them.
They'll hang out with you.
Then I got chinchillas. Cool but a pain in the *ss! They have attitude. Won't eat the same thing two meals in a row. Will look right at you, push bowl off shelve then start screaming at me until I bring them something different! lol

As long as you hold them often so they know you, they will crawl around on you for awhile then just sit there as you with TV or whatever.
If you don't play with them everyday......forget it. Out of cage? They just naturally go into food hunting mode. No interest in you.
That's fun too. Hide food and watch them try to figure out how to get it.

I know it was the Mexicans that brought them since it was in Seattle, no cockroaches.
They, and only they, moved into the complex and suddenly there was cockroaches.
They had just come up from Phoenix.....
When you say they brought them, what do you mean? Like in mason jars or something?
Perhaps it was a conspiracy to unleash "La Cucaracha" on Washingtonians. ;D

All this talk about Ferrets, Hedgehogs, & Chinchillas is making me hungry! Are they better BBQed, fried, or baked?

That's great! My only gripe with ferrets is they won't sit still with you for more than a few seconds. The moment you pick them up, they want to get back down and...go on a food hunt. :) I've learned the trick is grab them when they're sleeping and set them on your lap when watching TV. It takes them about 20 minutes to stir and realize they're out of the cage and can...go on a food hunt. :)
