I think John Denver would approve. I hope that this is the first step to full legalization. It's a huge revenue stream that the government has been ignoring for decades.

I agree. Legalization has several advantages. Revenue through taxation and we won't have to spend money prosecuting and imprisoning people for a substance, that in my opinion, is safer than alcohol.

And the pot heads can FINALLY shut up about it!

Not likely with 48 states still to go.

Ten years or less.....it will be legal everywhere......once the other states see how much Colorado and Washington are bringing in in taxes, they will be all over it!

Well, we're three days into it and there has been no increase in auto accidents or criminal activity. Although fast food restaurants have reported record sales. Cable TV viewership is also at an all time high.  :D  Pardon the paronomasia.

I'm not sure if that's reason enough. I believe that once other states adopt the legal use then the tax revenues WA and CO are seeing will drop. It's the old pyramid scheme adage, only the first one makes the big money.

I think WA & CO will see an increase in population over the next few years. My in-laws are moving to Colorado just for that reason..oh, and the views.

I wonder how this will effect the way businesses drug screen their employee's.

With most going on welfare. There goes all of that extra tax revenue! LOL

I think that's a major misconception. I know several people who use marijuana and still go to work everyday.

I have the advantage as an electrician of going into many peoples houses and apartments. I have many landlords as repeat customers. I can tell you from firsthand experience that 90% of the homes I enter where I can smell that unique smell, the occupants are unemployed, collecting unemployment, or are collecting welfare.

I didn't realize that electricians did background / employment checks on their clients.

A lot of people play the "poor card" right before they ask you how much your product/service is.

For 99% of the work I do I give a quote before starting the work. As to the landlord/tenant situations, the tenants aren't the ones paying, so what reason would they have to play the "poor card?"
