It was 1983 and my parents were immigrants and never truly understood what a young boy wanted for Christmas. They loved me and worked very hard but it was a very different culture. Christmas morning I opened this present and I have never felt more excited about a present.

Nice score! Ataris and games can be worth a pretty penny.

Looks just like the one my mom sold at a yard sale years ago. We only had one TV channel growing up so most weekend nights we had family Space Invader wars. Thanks for the memories!

It's not really that way anymore. You can get an Atari Flashback console with 75 built-in games for around $50.

And the best thing about the atari is that it was helped to be created at the Universirty of Utah with the godfather of the creator of pong.

The original systems still fetch a decent amount with gaming purists.. The casual gamer would much prefer the new flash consoles.

The Atari games are worth about $5 a piece on Ebay and I might sell the whole lot for $75. It will not break my heart if I don't sell it anytime soon.
I still have fond memories of that system.
