Title: How do you prove ownership?
Post by: Rufus on April 13, 2015, 02:20:30 AM
Let’s say you buy a storage unit that has a car in it.  How do you get the title for that car?  Can they refuse to give you the title for any reason?

You take your sales receipt from the auction with you. It's a good idea to both take a picture of the car in the unit before you remove anything, and also for the auctioneer to list the car and VIN on the sales receipt. Worse case, if you cannot title the car is to part it out. You'll probably make a lot more that way anyway.

A few years back i had bought a car from self storage facility auction & got title for the car without any problems. Remember to include the sales receipt which has the car & vin number details and also keep the notice of public sale. Just as an added proof that this car was listed at the storage auction.
