Looks incomplete...and religious.
-
Does have a religious look to it.
Sent picture's to my father. His girlfriends brother is our priest. Maybe he'll know....?
-
It actually looks like a religious robe to me. With the silvery portion acting as the collar and hem-detailing on the sleeves.

A stone kimono???
How tall is it?
-
kimono is what i was thinking as well and i have had on my sales counter all day and several other people agreed it is a kimono statue. What it may be worth is a big unknown it is very detailed and quaility seems top notch. measures 19" tall.
Thanks all for the input. Keep it coming.

fancy Art Deco necklace and ring stand?
that's my best guess--I'm utterly stumped!
-
I was hoping an art expert would comment before I threw in my .02, but here it goes...
Looks to be more of a stylized religous/choir robe. Looks to be Art Deco style to me.
I am interested in the internal structure of the piece. How heavy is it? It appears to be in the 15lb-20lb range if it is solid. Is the stone polished marble?
Are the stubs coming out the "arms" made of copper/bronze? If it is light, around the 5lb-10lb range there may be an internal metal skeleton and the stone is thin cut pieces of inlay.
The problem I see with it is the composition of the piece in general. It appears to be missing something. Stylized head and hands? Maybe it went with a set of other like type sculptures?
Any maker marks, signatures? Without more info would be hard to value.
A piece like that might bring $500-$1000 at an upscale art gallery in a major city, or no more then $10 at the flea market ???, which is probably why you have it in your possession now.
Good Luck!

It is heavy i would say easy 15 lbs the stone is marble tiles the internal is unknown but i am thinking ceramic. The arm stubs are brass. Yes it was purchased at a yard sale for 20.00. I paid 35.00 for it cause i thought it was neat. I may just mark it with a price of 100.00 and use it as a jewelry stand in the mean time. I have a upper scale thrift store so it will look good in one of my cases as such.
PS Thanks all for the input!! I welcome any new input as well.
