Title: Anybody good with Chinese pottery?
Post by: HomeGrownPromos on August 09, 2013, 11:45:32 AM
I found this platter dish in a unit which had a ton of glass from the 20's to the 50's. I'm thinking it's a reproduction, but I just wanted to get some opinions before I mark it $4...

Lot of chips, that's not good.

Any markings on back?  "House of Wongs - Free Delivery" is a bad sign......

Is it translucent? Hold up to light, does any light show thru?

Ultimate test: Throw it against a wall.  If it breaks its not worth anything.....well, now its not worth anything.   ;D

No makers mark. I know there's chips. In museums, they have just fragments of Chinese pottery pre-1910. I tend to be very careful when it comes to this stuff.. because you just never know! $4 it is!

That's because the curators were following Alloro's advice and throwing it against the wall.
