Title: Before Our Time or Handmade
Post by: money4nothing on November 21, 2011, 10:11:55 AM
Uncle gave us some things he wanted us to sell for him with a 50/50 split.
He has about 20 fishing poles. When we went through them found 4 that are solid wood... Not bamboo.
No markings.. I think they are hand made but not sure. any ideas on searching for info help.. Google search not much.. Maybe need a key word. Thanks

More than likely they are handmade. But even then, good quality handmade fishing poles can be worth some money. Around $20 to about $200. Depending on quality and age.

Thanks jrossjr79...

I was talking to a friend of mine and thought maybe they were made for decorative display.. One maybe bamboo, but the others seem pretty heavy and non flexible for fishing.

Sometimes on the old poles the eyes are sterling silver.

Think we are going to hang on to them for a little while and see if I can't find out more info.. And they are pretty cool.

Thanks monkeybusiness I will look at them a little closer...

Would ask my uncle but he is getting a little loopy with age... LOL

He only wants $1.00 each LOL So I will pay him and keep them.

Try taking them to some fishing gear stores, especially the mom and pop type stores, and stores that deal with antique and vintage fishing gear. THey may be able to give you an estimated value on what you have, and they may even offer to buy it from you or know someone that will.
