Do you pay for it?

:o Does anyone pay for any of the art database services? Any opinions on any of them? Not that I get much art - but its painfully frustrating not knowing if they are known, valuable, or who signed it! Recommendations welcome-tnx-M

I know this is an old thread, but I thought it was a good topic and worth reviving.

Does anyone pay for any of the services which show prices realized for antique, art or other auctions?

i dont understand how it would be worth it unless you were darryl sheets and found a bunch of fine art. Fine art is few and far between and if you DO find a piece google is right there

I've found a a very large signed oil painting in a locker several months ago. Couldn't find anything on the artist. After hours of research, I noticed that Artfact had recently sold a painting by the same artist. Although it was 1/8 the size of mine, I used that value to help price my painting.

Were you able to sell it? And anywhere near what expected value was?

Twice the amount the one on Artfact sold for. On Craigslist, I started off high and gradually lowered my price. I literally got one phone call on it in two months. Sometimes you just have to let the market price it for you.
