Title: Found antique vase today, need help determining value
Post by: The Young Gun on April 21, 2011, 08:58:29 PM
Does anyone know anything about my vase I found today? All I can tell you is it is it is a ceramic hand painted vase, it stands 2.5 feet tall and it is heavy. There are no markings on bottom, but the top says "_ _ _tine art co. 1962." The first 3 letters of the company name have rubbed off making in nearly impossible to google. It is white and looks hand carved, there are vines leaves and grapes painted on it, and there are two large handles on each side. It would take quite an expert to be familiar with this but I figured it was worth a shot.

By the way I won the unit for $120, and got lots of goodies in it should make nearly 10x my money. I will make a post in the treasure chest once I figure out what all I have. If this thing is valuable at all it is just icing on the cake. Thanks in advance for your help!

(edit: I can't upload a picture without resizing it, my pics are 4-500kb and max allowable is 128kb......) Will work on getting pic small enough to post.....

Looks like an English style of vase.

What you can try is to put a sheet of copy paper over there ingraving, and gently color over with a pencil.
That might bring out the first 3 letters of it, as it will transfer over to the paper.

Vases can be tricky, some are not worth much, some can have a moderate value, while some has a great value.

UPDATE: I got my appraisal back, and they said the vase is worth somewhere in the $60-$125 range. I'm going to stick it in my antique booth for $75 bucks.
