Title: Maybe sellign smaller stuff on ebay isn't all bad...
Post by: rulesforrebels on February 07, 2011, 06:10:46 PM
Over the weekend was trying to clear out some storage stuff. Don't wanna wait til summer for garage sales and dont have enough time right now to do flea markets.

Put 3 Coleman Coolers with stickers still on them on CL for $25. Guy came within 20 minutes, picked them up, paid cash, nice freindly guy talked about camping for a little bit.

Normally I wont do anything under $50 on craigslist as there's too many flakes, not worth finding a common time, waiting for people who are late, etc.

This day I was at my house the whole day so didn't really matter how prompt he was, had him come by got them, made some money, cleared some space, not that bad. May start doing more of this.

I understand some people may not like strangers comming to their house which I totally understand. I dont really mind just b/c its me my roomates a big dude, we both got guns and I got a 100lbs bulldog...lol. But honestly it makes it so much easier if your not sitting in the parking lot of  an amoco waiting 45 min for some guy to come pick up a blender for $10.

I've sold so much stuff on CL that's under $50.  I don't set an amount/limit on an item for it to qualify for CL.  If I know it will move, I'll do it.  Beats taking up space in my garage.

If you've waited more than 10 minutes for someone to come make a CL pickup, that's on you.

If you leave after that time and they later call you to ask what happened, just tell them the truth. They weren't there, they didn't call you to say they would be late, and you left.

If you pick a place just 5 minutes away from your home it's not a big deal.

One guy stood me up and then called me about 30 minutes after I got back home wondering where I was. I had him come to a place only 2 minutes from my house and he made the 2nd meeting and bought the item...in the dark...that was on him.

Your thread title says eBay, but your contents suggest CL. ?????  ???

movieman sorry meant craigslist not ebay.

good point with having people meet you 2 min from your house problem is im in a wierd in that im super far and a pain to get to from expressways so though you can get to my city from the expressway in minutes it could take you 30-40 min just to get to my place if traffic is bad. b/c of this i normally try to get a little closer to the expressway for people.

its just such a pain trying to find a common time all for a $10 sale. and if they do stand you up sure its only 5 min from home but im normally on the run all day, weekends, etc so im taking time out of my schedule and being close to home to meet that person so it is an inconvenience for me.

I thinkk this will be my new strategy though. find a day when either myself or roomate is gonna be home all day cleaning or hanging out or whatever and just schedule everyone to either look at stuff or pick stuff up that day.
