Title: Do You Guys Ever Have Buyers Do CC Chargebacks Instead of Ebay/Paypal disputes?
Post by: rulesforrebels on December 06, 2013, 10:23:19 AM
Kind of ironic I just posted the other day about ebay and paypal seller protection and disputes and then have another issue. Wondering if you guys run into this.Lately I've had a lot of people instead of opening up ebay or paypal claims just disputing with their credit card which most ofthe time paypal doesn't even ask for info disputing custoemrs dispute just gives money back.

Recently had a stupid buyer. Where is my package. I tell him your tracking shows delivered, check with others in your household if someone didnt grab it for you let me know and Ill help you file a dispute, you'll get your money back paypal will cover the loss and not me since shipped and show delivered.

About 6 emails and ebay message from him, I'm out my money!!! etc, etc, etc. I keep telling him your not out money, send him the link to open a dispute guy can't figure out how to do that. Finally I tell him just open a dispute directly with paypal. Sure enough the guy does a cc dispute so now instead of paypal covering the $316 loss I get to cover it.

So, fight the CC dispute since you can show the package was delivered.

I have not had a credit chargeback for an ebay purchase. I did have a lady buy a purse which she said was inauthentic, I've outlined this situation on another post, so I won't go into it here.

But part of my solution was to file through Paypal rather than ebay and she will get her money back, she can keep the purse and I don't have to refund. It was a win win for both of us. She refused to do that. She knew how, but just refused to do it.

Perhaps she has done it before and once too often to boot.

good point, i cant speak to people claiming items are countefeit but im surprised if someone claims they didnt get a package EVEN IF TRACKING SHOWS DELIVERED, paypal is pretty quick to give their money back no questions asked. i imaigne you can get away with this once, maybe twice but after that paypal is gonna realize ur a scammer and put a stop to free stuff

the problem is sometimes paypal gives you a chance to provide a tracking number, othertimes they give the money back and just tell you its been charged back. i recently had one of those for $800.

sometimes paypal gives you a chance to refund but basically its out of paypals control. paypal can fight it on your and their behalf to an extent but if the credit card company decides to issue the chargebakc your screwed

one of these situations wont affect you but dont do this too often or paypal will hit you with the rolling reserve. some stuff ill have paypal cover, especially bigger stuff but on some smaller stuff if its just $100 or so alot of times ill just take the hit myself as to not overburden paypal. at least thats how i did do things, now that i have the rolling reserve and they have 100k plus of my money im gonna make them pay everything i can get them to pay
