I just started an ebay store...

I just started an ebay store...

So last night I decide to jump into an ebay store for the follow up features and more significant tracking/research features. Also the bump in insertion free listings and lowered final value fees. Now I'm putting up a bunch of stuff. Hopefully it pays off!

normallywhen you do this ebay offers you a free consultation with a rep. def takethem up on it, ask any questions you have there's a lot of wierd nuances of ebay i was always confused about. things like if someone asks me to ship to a diff address what do i do? refund or tell them i can't? what happens if they lave me bad feedback? stuff like that.

not sure how many transactions you do but without a store you cant search your listinsg or sold items so say for example someone messages you and asks you about somethign you have to go line item by line item looking where with a store you can search something from the title and pull up the listing right away.

$15 isnt' a crazy amount i mean one sale a month should be able to cover that. ebay wont admit it but i feel like you get better search ranking with a store as well

What?  I  only list about 10 to 20 items a month (but there are always that many on there as things sell) and if someone sends me a question about an item there is a notice at the top of my homepage saying I have an unanswered question and the link takes me right to the item. Even if I had 100 items that would be the case. No store needed for that feature.

They promote that one gets a better search ranking, but I have listed an item, signed out, just went into eBay without signing in and did a search for the item I just listed or maybe one I listed a day or two before. Invariably  my item will show up in the top five listings.  No store association.

This January, 2014 I will have been selling for 10 years on eBay and I never really saw the need for a store. There may be some other reasons I don't know about, but in this case ignorance is bliss.

I like the extra tracking you get in the sales manager. I also like the customer base building tools like newsletters, etc. I don't know if anyone actually clicks those options or "follows" stores, but I like that those options are there. I feel like having a store on Ebay brings credibility to your account. Especially ones like mine with lower feedback scores.

But the last 2 months now I've gone past my 50 posting limit and have run into insertion fees. I figure if I can get 3 x's the amount of free listings, with lower FVF's, it'll pay for itself.

It is considerably less money ($0.20 for 30 days) to list 'Buy it now' items if you have a store.

I haven't had good luck with buy it now items. I list an auction with buy it now option when it's free. otherwise I just do standard auction listing. Could be that I want too much for my items as a buy it now.. but it's still about 60-70% of what the next cheapest is..

i stick strictly to buy it now with immediate payment. its too much of a headache waiting for peopel to pay when they feel like it, throws off my organization and my inventory
