Title: Items selling for less around Christmas
Post by: Travis on December 26, 2012, 10:26:06 AM
Just wondering if anyone else had auctions ending around Christmas and whether the items sold for less than you were expecting? I had a few items that ended the day before and the day after Christmas that sold for about 50% of what I was expecting.

Auctions have to end a week before Christmas if you want to make a buck on them. Within one week of Christmas you should use the fixed price listing option. The reason for this is people want stuff in time for Christmas and don't want to wait for an auction to close, then wait for the shipping time before it arrives.

These weren't really items that people would give to others for Christmas, like cable/internet modems and camshaft alignment tools.

truly rare and unique items will sell fine year round, more mundane things will sell for less than normal around the holidays
