What do you think is the best time for an eBay auction to end?

If I had to guess, I would say around 7-8 PM since most people are home from work and relaxed by then.

too many factors. you know alot of times i find auctions ending around 3pm to be the best. yeah i know people are at work but 3-5 is the times at work that people in offices get bored, grab a cup of coffee, surf the web and be lazy, do personal stuff. i have a lot of sales aorund this time.

yeah i can see how 7 is good people home from work but at that point people watching tv, busy with kids, etc. i personally find i tend to slack off at work and have 3 time to brose the wb and stuff the last hour or two of the day at work.

i guess it really depends though. if your selling tools figure most trades people probably get outta work at like 2 or 3. if your selling something which would appeal more to a mom well stay at home moms are around all the time. really kinda depends on who what your selling appeals to

I generally aim for 5:00pm on a Sunday since I'm west coast giving it a 5-8 range across the country. Depends on the item though. It if's a more unique item I don't think it matters as much.

I try to shoot for Sat.-Sat., Sun.-Sun. or Mon.-Sat., Tues.-Sun. So it always ends on a weekend. Late afternoon to evening end time.

I usually use a 7 day auctionand end mine between 6:00 -7:30 pm on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. That way I get an entire weekend for people to find and start watching the item and then they can bid or even last minute snipe, when they are home relaxing or whatever they are doing in the middle of the week. Fridays and Saturdays are horrible because people are busy doing things and Sundays for me are lazy days, I won't even pull eBay up. Basically the people that do search eBay on the weekends. should see my listing if I have it optomized, and be home from work in the middle of the week to bid.

just noticed terapeak has a category for this very thing. you can see what days most people are buying as well as the times most people are buying. now obviously this is going to vary depending upon who your items appeal to but for any product or category you can find out when is the best day and time to end your auction for the best chances of success

rulesforrebels,

What time zone is that chart in?

thats actually a great question. i just checked and it doesn't specify. it could be west coast time because ebay is based on west coast however it could be central since im located in central time maybe they specify it towards myself and my account. im not too sure, ill have to find out and report back. to me it doesn't really matter as im limited how many listings I can have so all my listings sellout before ending and i only do buy it now so not really important with listing times.

also, just an FYI, don't necessarily go off that chart i provided as to when you end your listings. i think it really depends on category. if your selling something for moms id imagine the numbers would be different, probably a lot of things ending during daytime maybe at whatever time moms put down kids for maps. on the flip side if your selling something that appeals to a younger audience it may be completely different so these best times to an an auction are going to vary depending on the schedules nad lives of those who your items appeal to.

I have a feeling it's PST..  When I talk to EBAY customer care they normally quote best selling times in PST.
