Not there yet. :(
« on: January 15, 2012, 06:57:13 AM »
Planned on hitting the Flea this weekend to get rid of some of our inventory. Well the weather is @ 32 degrees at 7:51. Decided to wait until next weekend.

I know not that cold but for me (true Floridian) to cold. Plus we have run ragged picking and buying stuff.

Sold about $150 out of consignment this week so not bad. Have been chasing a guy with some nice furniture for a week now. We can pick it up today so think can make more off that than the Flea.

Right there with ya!
Plan was to hit the flea and see if any of the vendors wanted to buy. Got a bunch of lot stuff I'm sick of selling by the piece.
Got up to find three inches of snow. Decided the stuff has been sitting there for months, another week is fine....

Not that I'm lazy mind ya.  snow=less people at flea=less sales=vendors not making money=not offering good price.  Yeeeeah.....that's a good rationalization. I'm stick'n with it over lazy. lol

 :D

With ya we aren't Lazy just smart. LOL

Went and picked up the furniture had been trying to get for a week.  Spent $100 and priced out at Thrift for $470. Don't think could have made that at the Flea today.  8)

Next weekend looks better for us.

Thanks Monkey

Have to go down in person to pay cash for our spot today.
I am struggling with the one table thing.
Have so much little stuff. Putting on the ground does not sound good to me. Oh well will give it a shot.
If we can unload a lot of the clothes would be great.
Have 4 more bags to go through, One came apart yesterday with my reorganization. Look good all clean, just no ware to put them. LOL
If we sell out will be at the laundry matt next week washing up about 20 pillow cases full.  :P

I would put stuff on the ground at the flea market.  I have never sold at one, but when I go, I hardly ever look at the stuff on the tables unless I am looking for something in particular. If there's stuff in boxes on the floor...that's where I look! Never know what kind of "treasures" might be in there.

Hopefully we pulled the treasures out. LOL
Think we will be ok all the clothes are sorted and in totes so can set them out on the ground. Have a lot of glass stuff. Plates and misc. stuff. Think will set out only two sets of plates, and replenish when they sell.

Have to go threw the purses we have, knock off's in there, need to pull those out. Hoping for a profitable weekend.  ;D

Stuff on the ground at my flea doesn't get much of a look.  If it's not waist level and easy for them to pick-up and examine they don't bother.  So I take a folding table and a rack frame that has glass shelves when I go.  The glass shelves makes the nick nacks and things like that just look better.

Talked with one of the guys that sales at the flea all the time.  During this time of year they have a 40% reduction in foot traffic.  Thus it's just not worth going out on Saturday for me.

That is what we have heard here too. So we are going to check on a new market (all in doors) today. Have decided the one we were planning on just not worth it. We have plenty of tables but that market you can not bring any in. So to get two tables have to rent two spaces. Plus the girl was not very helpful when we tried to give her our money. Go pick a spot then come back and I will tell you if is reserved or not. ???

Have our eyes out for some shelving. At the equipment Auction there were some like the produce stands, metal pipe like tripod with small wood shelves. Would work perfect but the bid went to high.  :(

We are going to the original market that we planned on months ago tomorrow.

Talked to the thrift she sold some things so that is a plus.

Ouch - they don't let you bring additional tables in?  Think I'd pass on that place.  Our flee you get a 10 x 10 space for $12 that comes with a wood table.  You can really get more then a 10x10 space by using some of your parking space.  They really don't care much how you setup unless someone complaines.

I really wish I had a thirft store I could consign some stuff at.  In my area all of those stores are some of the very people I compete against for lockers.

Yes that has been a blessing to us. She does want to attend auctions, but she has no time, too busy running the store. Her husband is currently not working (construction). So he may attend. We went down there today. Boy am I glad he has not been working! With the dilemma of merchandise in the parking lot, her husband cleaned out two rooms that were not open (had just junk in them) the place looked really good.

We have a lot of consignment shops but they charge 50% and up. Too rich for my blood.  ;)

Yes we have two markets that are really messed up in my opinion.

We went to a new indoor market today. Nice place. They are open 6 days a week. a 12 X12 inside space $150 a month.  Out in a storage building $125 a month. Only good thing you sell when you want and you can leave your stuff there.  We liked it but not sure how to best utilize it yet. Did see a fellow storage buyer there.

Went to the one we have talked about and were wishy washy on.

We are in paid our money for Tomorrow. A whole $15 comes with 2 tables and we can bring some in. Like yours can us your parking space. They even knew what spaces were already taken.  :o LOL
It was busy today too. Talked to a Vendor (bought a pair of boots from him) husband was trying to haggle, So I told him we would be here Tomorrow so he could return the favour.  He said he cleared over $400 today. He also said he is normally only there on Sunday, and has not cleared that much in awhile.

So I am stoked we are finally moving forward on this part. Decided to only take what is already packed in the van. Cannot see out of the back. We mainly have the kids clothes so hope we sell a LOT. We did not see any vendors with kids clothes ++++++ There was a clothes vendor not there today, stuff covered up.

I am taking my clip board and will do my best on keeping a tally on the clothing. Will post that on the other thread. Hopefully it will be better than what we sold in our Yard. LOL

Good luck Money.  Must be nice to live in FL.  Going to be raining still Sunday here.  Thinking of trying to hit flea on the 4th of Feb.  Just not sure the weather will be worth it.  Have a number of jackets, long sleeve shirts, and just opened a box full of hats (many sock hats), few heaters, etc. that have gotten of late.  If don't sell it now have to hold till Oct or so.  I hate holding onto inventory, even if I do it.

Up date after expenses made $46.00. Did get some pain inventory gone.  ;D.

Meet a lot of nice people, even the vendor who got tipsy off her beer. LOL

We learned a lot. Nice crowed died when the games were starting. Figured that.  :D

We rented two booths for next Sunday. Will take the man stuff and some of our higher end stuff.

Then we will take Super Bowl Sunday off.
