I live in a pretty ****ty neighborhood, its pretty ghetto, I'm the onlywhite guy on my block. I have had garage sales at previous places I lived and did well, all in nicer neighborhoods but people like going to those b/c nice neighorhoods tend to throw out nice and perfectly good stuff or sell it cheap at garage sales.

Just curious if anyone else lives in the ghetto and has garage sales. Im think I may be in a good area to sell a lot of stuff but really don't want all these people seeing all the stuff I got lol. I'm well armed and have a bulldog/pit mix but I'm not home all the time.

My living situation is temporary I'm going to either sell or rent the place and move on but stuck here for a few more months and dont want to let the summer pass me by without having a few garage sales.

Lol, did ya read my previous posts in other threads. Ya I live in the hood, and have yard sales. I wont say successful, alot of people wont come to my neirgborhood because of its reputation. And with this heat, well lets just say I am not using up gas to go back and forth from my inventory unit and my house for a garage sale. No one is coming outside right now.

I am exploring other options while selling the remainder of my inventory mostly on CL. Which almost all of it is gone. I may be donating the rest the stuff.

Monkey business. Yeah I used to love to sell at flea markets but it's way too crowded with vendors this year. If you don't get there by like 5am they are out of spots and I have to work at least two saturdays a month these days so don't have the time to commit to a yearly spot where your guranteed a spot.

I have a few other flear markets in the area but one charges $160 for the weekend which is a little high for my blood and it's more high end stuff than my typical household stuff which is the majority of what I have. The other flea market in my area is a ways away.

Anyhow, flea markets havn't been as good this year for me as in  years past, mostly because of working teh saturdays.

I still like to hit the flea market up but a garage sale is so easy and conveneint, no traveling, no waking up early, no unloading and packing up, just sell right out of my garage full of stuff.

jross, now that you mention it i think I do recall you talking about that before although in the past i havn't read the garage sale seciton all that much, ill have to read soem of your old posts for tipsand info on crappy area garage sales though lol.

Does your community or county/parish/whaterver you have do a community yard sale?  Where I live at the local fairground they do a county wide yardsale.  Cost is like $50 for a space for the day.  It normally generates a ton of traffic.

I know the local flea-market is seeing a boom of people and vendors.  As the economy keeps going down people have switched to second hand stuff over box stores it seems.

Is there an abandoned lot or parking space away from house but close that you could do a sale?  Is what people do in my area many times.  The old shopping stores that have moved our fruther from downtown attract people doing yardsales, flower sales, etc.

I live in a area full of immigrants legal and illegal. Had a garage sale a couple years ago and did great. It was fun probably had 4 or 5 different languages being spoken at once but immigrants have not been Americanized yet they still thought used goods were okay. Sold lots of clothes and low dollar items ot them.
