Maybe for nostalgia to someone who went to that high school. Other than that not sure.

Medals that I get from sporting events and things like that 99% of the time go into my scrap pile.  Most of them are plated and only good for shred price.  A few unique looking medals or any that are military or replica medals I'll research, take pictures, and try to sell.  Even if only get $1 for them it is normally more then I would in scrap price.  Of course I nickle and dime a unit to death if things are slow and I have time on my hands.  Other times these type items just sit in a corner for a slow day.

if they are really older and would be a cool vintage collectible item maybe on the wall of a man cave with penants and stuff maybe you could get a few bucks, if not older they are pretty much garbage

one other tip not so much for metals but for plaques and trophies. i bought one unit where these people were in some kind of a  pyrimid scheme type marketing program and literally had hundreds of trophies, plaques, metals, etc. Those giant totes that would fit a body I must have had 4 of those full of trophies and stuff. went to a trohpy shop in my area and got $50 for the lot. not great money but better than paying $2 per garbage sticker to toss them, they were super heavy too. much of it was probably junk to him but some of the trophies and things he could take the name plate off and replace it with a new one and resell.

Does anyone know about Special Olympic Medals? I have about 5 out of our last locker (I am still amazed at what was left in that locker).  These are probably 20+ years old and I can't figure out what they are made out of.

I did see a set of 3 listed on ebay for 19.99 that sold, but I cannot find any information about them.

Somethings I really hate to sell (memories, stories behind items, etc), but that's why we do it right?

Another good idea someone gave me yesterday was try an contact the owner and sell them back to them. It would be worth the most to the person that won it.

personally i think its kind of low trying to sell back personal affects, people can have them back if they want them. in all honestly though i dont even make an effort to give them back anymore if the facility wont take them like they used to 99.9% of the time people never call back, could care less, dont want the stuff, etc

Unfortunately, I let the locker get to me and looked up the owner and children. After seeing school projects, special notes to mom, etc.  Both kids are in prison (even the one who won the medals).   I have about 20 boxes to return to the facility (yes I was going to pitch most, but after reading on here decided to let them deal with it as the locker owner wanted all personal items).

I think one box we found summed the whole locker up.  AA books in a liquor store box.

For 2 reasons I would not contact the locker owner. #1 if the stuff meant that much to them they wouldn't have let it go and #2 I am not paying for the locker for them to get their stuff back for free. Oh...and I would never want them to know who I was.
