Auction Fashion Sense
« on: July 19, 2011, 09:08:16 PM »
OK, I've seen a little bit of everything and the ones I remember I would just as soon forget.

This thread is for posting PICTURES of what people wear to auctions; I hope I'm not the only one to contribute.

Only one requirement: pics you post here have to be at storage auctions, not things you've found on the internet.
Doesn't take much to do that, especially with cell phones today.

Here's a start with a comment beneath the picture.

This couple bought a 5 x 5 clothes locker today and I think the matching outfit shown here came in a lkr last week.

The stainless steel bracelet, the shirt, and you can barely see it, sterling silver ring all came from storage units.

I was going to ask what proper attire is at an auction.  I would assume that it is anything that you don't mind getting dirty while cleaning out your lockers...

Wear whatever you want, just beware of bidders carrying picture taking devices !

In my area it's typically camo, denim, & t-shirts; but recently I have noticed more penny loafers, khakis, Polos, & jewelry. I'm wondering if people with money think storage auctions might be a fun hobby or business venture. Could be a game changer if well-to-do people start jumping into the business.

Interesting observation copiavita....perhaps the "beautiful life"  ;D really will start infecting the auctions. In my area the well dressed buyer does make an appearance now and again, and even if they are not THAT evident, they are there to one degree or another.

I also note the ones who just by their dress or demeanor are at the far OTHER end of the spectrum and are NOT a threat. It's the great MIDDLE that can be the problem.

Yes anything you dont mind getting dirty, or even better something you do not mind throwing away, depending on how bad of a unit you got. I know I wont keep a shirt if I accidentally spilled food that has been baking inside a fridge inside a lkr for the past 9 months.

Also think of something comfortable, remember most units are not climate controlled, so if it is hot outside, it will be hotter in side the lkr. And if it is cold outside, it will roughly be about same temp inside the lkr, a lil bit warmer or a hell of alot colder.

My advice, Tangerine or Banana Speedo, serves to purposes:
1. What better way to beat the sumertime heat!
2. Everyone will be so busy staring at you, they won't be able to concentrate on bidding!

Proper attire in Houston - boots, wife beater, cargo shorts / concealed handgun in back, ball cap (forward), sunglasses, pad locks hanging from belt loop, flood light in hand.

If you wear a fanny pack and your tube socks to your knees, I don't know you.
