I see lots of people on this board and others talk about I just went to my first auction last Tuesday, this is terrible with these crowds.

Up until somewhat recently at least in my area it was myself and a few others taking turns buying good units at $25-$35 and making a killing off reselling them.

Then a few episodes of storage wars come on and it's 30, 40, 50, 60, even up to 300 people at a PODS auction I went to a while back.

If you don't know what a difference even just the past few months has made and your just going to your first auction you really can't complain about the crowds.

Well I suppose you can since you do...lol...but you really have no idea.

I agree totally.

When i see people in here that have not even attanded their first auction start to make comments on it, thats just stupid. And when they have one auction under their belt it is almost like they are the king of the auction.

Most people i know in this business has been in it for 20-30 years. They know what they are talkig about, and they know what it is all about.

It's like any moment in history. Those who are "older" than you relate differently to today's world because of what they experienced before. Social etiquette is dying out as an example. I am always pleased when someone I hold a door for says "thank you" and usually that person is older...or youger and was taught some manners.

Don't get me started on people who don't signal turns, who stop in the middle of an intersection and don't know what to do next etc...but I digress.

The new folks who are complaining (if they are) about crowds now will look back at Feb of 2012 someday and say "I remember when...."

Funny the conversation took this turn. Was just complaining to my roomate about how during my lunchbreak I stopped and helped push a ladies car of out the snow. Had to run through a 12' snowdrift to get to her and got soaked up to about my waist then had to go back to work.

And I didn't get a thank you or a waive or anything. Sad to say and I shoudln't punish others for this ass but I won't be as quick to go out of my way to help somneone again.
